Who We Are: Own the Podium (OTP) is a not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to support Olympic and Paralympic athletes in winning well.

It is our goal to help all athletes get to the start line and know they have done everything possible to achieve their performance objectives in a culture of excellence that protects their psychological and physical health and safety.

For Own the Podium, participant wellness –
both physical and psychological – is a pre-requisite to all athletes, coaches, and support staff achieving their performance goals.

This values-based approach has guided Own the Podium’s leadership team through the completion of a comprehensive strategic plan process that includes this new organizational purpose and revised mission and mandate statements to better describe the organization’s current approach and priorities.

priorities and providing funding recommendations that align with our funding partners’ priorities.

Strategic Priorities:

  • Lead the pursuit of podium performances;
  • Strengthen the high-performance sport system;
  • Provide recommendations for optimal resource allocation aligned with funding partner priorities;
  • Advocate for an increase in financial resources for high-performance sport.
  • Funding Partners:

    Own the Podium’s largest contributor of funding is the Government of Canada with additional funding provided by the Canadian Olympic Committee/Canadian Olympic Foundation, the Canadian Paralympic Committee/Paralympic Foundation of Canada, along with the corporate community.

    Project Overview:

    Own the Podium’s current web site is outdated and requires a refresh to accomplish our current marketing objectives.

    Own the Podium requires a site that is user friendly and reflective of its culture and value-based strategic plan.

    The web site will be a core element within Own the Podium’s marketing and communications strategy and initiatives that will be created to help better educate the organization’s targeted audiences on its purpose, strategic priorities and programs.

    The time is now to build a strong vision and forward-looking strategy, proactively tell our story, create understanding, rally and energize community partners, and signal a positive change outside.

    Additionally, the site must provide necessary analytics for tracking, monitoring effectiveness and measuring future lead generating campaigns.

    Primary Goals:

  • Revitalize and strengthen Own the Podium’s brand; story and purpose;
  • Tell the Own the Podium story in a compelling way to educate and give confidence to existing stakeholders while attracting new ones;
  • Give Own the Podium a more active, contemporary and vibrant brand personality;
  • Position Own the Podium as a dynamic and innovative agent of change;
  • Signal the changes and growth (new things) happening inside the organization;
  • Design a fresh, modern and efficient web site that better reflects Own the Podium’s current approach and priorities;
  • Use of new content management system to allow easier upgrades to new platforms and technologies;
  • Put a strategic focus on marketing, branding and business operations;
  • Save money and improve efficiencies;
  • Reach new audiences.
  • Technical Requirements:

  • Content Management System (CMS): The CMS should be user-friendly, support multiple languages, allow for different user roles, and include basic SEO features.
  • Hosting: The website must be hosted on a secure, cloud-based platform with automated backups, disaster recovery, and optimized global performance.
  • Security: The site should follow industry-standard security practices, including protection from common threats and compliance with data privacy laws.
  • Analytics and Reporting: Integrate tools like Google Analytics to track visitor behavior and provide easy-to-use reports for monitoring site performance.
  • Scalability and Futureproofing: The website should be designed to easily support future growth and
    integration with new features and third-party tools.
  • Accessibility and Usability: The site must meet accessibility standards, offer a responsive design, and ensure fast, user-friendly navigation across devices.
  • Technical Support and Maintenance: Ongoing support and a maintenance plan must be provided to ensure regular updates and prompt responses to technical issues.

  • Proposed Timeline:

    Own the Podium would like to roll out its new strategic plan on the heels of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

    Therefore, it would be ideal if the web site project could be ready by December 31, .

    Budget: Own the Podium would ask for all interested candidates to outline estimated costs for the scope of work and technical requested in their proposal for the design and development of a new web site.

    Deadline and Submission: Please submit your proposals by September 30, .

    Own the Podium may request short listed candidates to deliver an in-person/virtual presentation.
