Carnegie Mellon University’s department of Mechanical Engineering is searching for a Research
Assistant to join their team.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment.

You will contribute to the department by working on fast fabrication of soft polymer structures using lasers for packaging of Li-ion batteries and such other tasks that are assigned to you.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out research in laser ablation of soft materials for packaging of Li-ion batteries
  • Develop process-structure relationship by evaluating the manufacturing process window
  • Evaluate different soft polymer materials
  • Characterize the repeatability of the parts fabricated by the above method
  • Characterize the reproducibility of the parts fabricated by the above method.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

  • High School diploma/GED, bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 0–1-year experience
  • Prior research experience
