The Computer Science Department (CSD) is one of the seven academic departments in the Carnegie Mellon School of Computer Science (SCS).

Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon is also distinctive for our research style, educational programs, commitment to diversity, culture and organizational structure.

The CS Research Department within the School of Computer Science is seeking a Research Assistant to join the team.

This position will work with research projects within the Computer Science Department.

Specific work assignments and research depends on assignment of Project PI.

Core Responsibilities

  • Follows research plans in order to collect, record, and manipulate research data.

    Maintains accurate and detailed research records and files.
  • May test software prototypes.

    May interact with research subjects in order to perform job functions.
  • Performs basic data analysis in order to product reports.

    Documents results and processes.
  • Performs library research and field explorations.
  • May write and test code according to project specifications.
  • Assesses data and analyzes results.
  • Flexibility, excellence, and passion are vital qualities within the School of Computer Science Research Department.

    Qualifications

  • High School Education / GED.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred
  • Strong methodological background.
  • Experience with research protocols, research record keeping and data analysis.
  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
