Position Description

Title of Position: Research Associate

Timeline: Full-time, One-year position from September 2024 to September 2025 (with potential for extension)

Description of Duties and Responsibilities: The Research Associate will be responsible managing the overall project and leading the implementation and coordination of a SAMHSA-funded initiative focused on providing naloxone and fentanyl testing strip (FTS) training and distribution services in North Mississippi.

Key duties and responsibilities include: 

1. Developing and executing a detailed project plan to ensure successful program implementation.
   
   
2. Coordinating partnerships with state health department, community pharmacies, and other stakeholders.
   
   
3. Managing Advisory Board meetings.
   
   
4. Coordinating training programs for community pharmacists and community members on naloxone administration, fentanyl testing strip use, and overdose prevention strategies.
   
   
5. Managing procurement, inventory, and distribution of naloxone kits, fentanyl testing strips, and related supplies.
   
   
6. Providing leadership, guidance, and support to project staff, volunteers, and student pharmacists.
   
   
7. Work with the program evaluation team to ensure quality delivery of the program
8. Draft the project report

Minimum Qualifications

Qualifications for Position: 

• Bachelor's degree in public health, healthcare administration, pharmacy, or a related field required; Advanced degree preferred.
  
  

• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in project coordination or related roles.
  
  

• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  
  

Supervisory Relationships: The Research Associate will report to the Principal Director and Co-director overseeing the SAMHSA-funded initiative.

The position may involve supervisory responsibilities for project staff and student pharmacists.

Skills and Knowledge Required: 

• Project coordination and management 

• Community outreach and engagement 

• Resource procurement  

• Leadership and team management 

Amount of Travel and Special Conditions or Requirements: The position may require regular travel in North Mississippi for meetings, training, and outreach events.

The Research Associate must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed to accommodate program activities.
