We are developing all the technologies needed to enable breakthrough Smart glasses, AR glasses and VR headsets, including optics and displays, computer vision, audio, graphics, brain-computer interfaces, haptic interaction, eye/hand/face/body tracking, perception science, and true telepresence.

Some of those will advance much faster than others, but they all need to happen to enable AR and VR that are so compelling that they become an integral part of our lives.The Audio Team within RL Research is looking for a Research Engineer with a specialty in audio processing to join our growing team.

This role will be doing applied research and applied engineering in technologies that improve listener’s hearing capabilities under challenging listening conditions alongside a team of dedicated research scientists, developers, and engineers.

In this position, you will collaborate closely with a cross-functional team of engineers, research scientists, and designers to develop novel hearing enhancement technologies.

You will focus on designing and integrating state-of-the-art hearing enhancement algorithms to AR/VR products to create new experiences beyond what traditional consumer devices can.

Required Skills:

Research Engineer: Audio Processing Responsibilities:

  1. Design and implement hearing enhancement algorithms for wearable audio devices

  2. Develop solutions that solve complex problems at the intersection between beamforming, machine learning, acoustics and signal processing for applications in AR/VR

  3. Develop algorithms that meet system-level acoustic, compute, and memory constraints for wearable audio devices

  4. Collaborate with teams in the larger Reality Labs audio team to deploy new technologies in AR/VR products

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

    Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta

  2. 1+ years experience developing, implementing, and evaluating algorithm and signal processing techniques for audio processing

  3. 1+ years experience in programming in C++, MATLAB, or Python

  4. Master's degree or equivalent experience in Applied Mathematics, Audio Engineering and Signal Processing, Acoustics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field

  5. Experience with cross-group and cross-team collaboration

  1. Expertise in hearing enhancement signal processing and auditory perception

  2. 2+ years of experience in speech, hearing and audio perception research & technology development

  3. 3+ years experience developing, implementing and evaluating algorithm and signal processing techniques for speech enhancement solutions

  4. Experience with application of machine learning techniques to speech enhancement algorithms

  5. Experience and proven track record of developing and productizing speech enhancement solutions

Public Compensation:

$117,000/year to $173,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
