Summary:

Reality Labs (RL) focuses on delivering Meta's vision through Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR).

The compute performance and power efficiency requirements of Virtual and Augmented Reality require custom silicon.

Reality Labs Silicon team is driving the state of the art forward with breakthrough work in computer vision, machine learning, mixed reality, graphics, displays, sensors, and new ways to map the human body.

Our chips will enable AR & VR devices where our real and virtual world will mix and match throughout the day.

We believe the only way to achieve our goals is to look at the entire stack, from transistors, through architecture, firmware, and algorithms.

We are growing our Research team within RL Silicon and are seeking research scientists who will work with a world-class group of researchers and engineers using your skills to implement and contribute to the development and optimization of state-of-the-art accelerators and SoCs.

Required Skills:

Research Scientist, Circuit Design (PhD) Responsibilities:

  1. Identify and solve multi-discipline AI and low power hardware systems problems

  2. Develop and design new solutions for AI hardware silicon architectures & systems

  3. Deploy AI workloads and models in custom silicon architectures with multiple programmable blocks and accelerators

  4. Work across hardware and software, to solve deep co-design problems with other Research scientists working in this area

  5. System modeling for performance estimation and optimization at IP, SoC and chiplet level

  6. Estimate system-level benefits of a new architecture/design

  7. Develop generative AI solutions to support and assist different work streams of silicon design

  8. Actively engage, collaborate, and influence other research pillars and application teams at Reality Labs.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

    Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta

  2. Currently has or is in the process of obtaining a PhD in the field of Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

  3. Experience as an IC Research Designer and Architect with proven digital/mixed signal skills

  4. Experience understanding a complete silicon design flow

  5. Experience to benchmark the proposed research solutions with existing HW

  6. Experience using generative AI models and solutions

  7. Experience with chip design flow and chips tape-out

  8. Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience with embedded learning architectures and circuits, or AR applications

  2. Experience with TensorFlow / Pytorch or similar machine learning toolsets

  3. Experience creating new AI models and training them

  4. Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as first-authored publications at leading workshops or conferences such as ISSCC, CICC, VLSI

  5. Experience working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment

  6. Experience solving complex problems and comparing alternative solutions, tradeoffs, and diverse points of view to determine a path forward

Public Compensation:

$117,000/year to $173,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
