Research Scientist I. Job Opening In Arlington – Now Hiring The University of Texas at Arlington

Job Summary

The Center for Space Physics and Data Science (CSDS) at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) invites applications for a Research Scientist position in Space Physics.

The Research Scientist I will conduct research on ion-neutral coupling processes in the Earth’s upper atmosphere during geomagnetically active times.

Area of focus include, but are not limited to, interactions between large-scale traveling atmospheric disturbances (LSTADs) and large-scale traveling ionospheric disturbances (LSTIDs), as well as neutral wind response to enhanced geomagnetic forcing.

Primary responsibilities will involve performing numerical simulations and analyzing observational data.

In accordance with USCIS regulations, successful applicants must be legally able to accept work in the United States.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct original research independently and collaboratively.

  • Collaborate closely with members of the Space Physics group at UTA, actively contributing to ongoing projects.

  • Present research findings at professional conferences and publish results on peer-reviewed journals.

  • Mentor graduate and undergraduate students, providing support and guidance in their research activities.
  • Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in physics, space physics, plasma physics, or a related field.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong experience in Ionosphere and Thermosphere studies, particularly those with experience running Ionosphere-Thermosphere models.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Capable of running general circulation models and contributing to model development.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
