Description of Work Unit
Founded in 1870, Colorado State University is among the nation’s leading research universities and enrolls approximately 32,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students.

The Department of Biology at Colorado State University ( CSU ) is one of eight departments in the College of Natural Sciences.

The Department has a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching, as well as excellence in research.

The Department of Biology has an international reputation for excellence in research across a broad array of disciplines, including cell and molecular biology, physiology of plants or animals, animal behavior, ecology, evolutionary biology and computational/theoretical biology.

PhD graduates receive world-class training, participate in cutting-edge and often interdisciplinary research projects, and are employed at all levels of academia and industry around the globe.

Position Summary
The Department of Biology seeks applications from PhD level scientists who are interested in obtaining temporary or special research positions at the Research Scientist/Scholar level.

Some Research Scientist/Scholar positions may have the option to work remotely, but this will vary between the faculty labs within the department.

Signing bonus information: Any/all signing bonuses, of up to $2,500, would need to be approved on acase-by-case basis,based off a review by the hiring lab and departmental leadership.

Required Job Qualifications
A Ph.D. is required for all levels.

+ Level Iis for individuals generally within three years of receiving their Ph.D. and with significant professional accomplishments.

+ Level IIis analogous to the Assistant Professor title for regular faculty.

It generally includes people with three to seven years of experience beyond the Ph.D. and very significant professional accomplishments.

+ Level III is analogous to the Associate Professor title for regular faculty.

It generally includes individuals with more than seven years of experience beyond the Ph.D. level and with very significant professional accomplishments.

+ The Senior levelis analogous to the full Professor title for regular faculty.

It generally includes individuals well beyond the Ph.D. level that have demonstrated outstanding, sustained, and extraordinary professional accomplishments, as well as professional leadership.

+ Candidates with knowledge and experience in one or more of the following fields are preferred: cell and molecular biology, physiology of plants or animals, animal behavior, ecology, evolutionary biology and computational/theoretical biology.
