Description

The Mobile Solutions Business Unit is seeking a RF Design Engineer Intern to join a team of talented engineers in our San Jose Design Center for 3 months.

Our engineering team is responsible for the design and integration of BAW/SAW into cellular front-end modules.

As a part of filter design team, you will work on complex RF modules to integrate multiple dice from a variety of technologies to deliver the best-in-class performance.
The successful candidate will possess a good understanding of electromagnetics, microwave, acoustics, and RF design, and be a driven, committed team player.

The candidate will be responsible for EM and schematic analysis of passive RF front-end circuits.

The candidate will gain valuable experience in interfacing multiple RF components by designing low loss impedance matching networks and subsequently analyze the integration of various filter technologies on the module using EM simulation tools.

The position is in San Jose, a great location for technological innovation in the US and some of the best places in the country hiking, outdoor activities, restaurants and more lifestyle options!


Responsibilities


+ Integration of SAW/BAW filters into RF modules & modeling of filters in their module environment

+ Integrating multiple filters and duplexers together, in combination with RF switches, to facilitate carrier aggregation (CA)

+ Close collaboration with filter designers to develop a strong understanding of SAW and BAW filters, duplexer, multiplexer design for small signal performance characteristics

+ MCM (multi-chip module) layout following best practices in Cadence APD



Required Experience and Skills


+ Currently enrolled in an Electrical Engineering (or related) undergraduate program

+ Should have career interest in RF Engineering, EM, filters, microwave acoustics, or RF MEMS

+ Coursework in RF/microwave fundamentals such as impedance matching, passive RLC and resonant circuits and transmission lines

+ Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint

+ Good communication skills both verbal and written; positive can-do attitude towards solving or debugging problems

+ Willingness to learn



Desired Experience and Skills


+ Preferred ability or willingness to learn scripting in Python, Visual Studio or other tools

Software tools used include:

+ Ansys HFSS

+ Keysight ADS and Momentum

+ Cadence SIP and Virtuoso



The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $26.00 - $47.50 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $22.50 - $42.00 per hour.

Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location.

Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
