Description

Join our team developing high performance Silicon RFIC solutions for next-generation mobile applications! Document and present your work to a broad audience of co-workers.

Located in Silicon Valley amongst major customers, the Skyworks San Jose Design Center is seeking motivated individuals eager to join a winning team in the competitive mobile communications market.

 The San Jose Design Center is comprised of tightly-knit, diverse, and multi-cultural teams of 4 to 8 members.

 Every team is guided by the core principles of sharing, openness, collaboration, accountability, and trust.

 Personally contribute to the realization of RF Front-End integrated circuits used in mobile phones from initial concept to final production, whether your specialty is in multi-chip modules, power amplifiers, RFICs or PMICs, RF filters, Validation, Test, Product Engineering, or Assembly.

 See your valuable inputs directly translate into new ways of solving common problems, improved design methodology, or enhanced business culture or the work environment.

 Join us to experience all aspects of highly integrated semiconductor, module, and embedded RF circuits design, our in-house prototype Assembly lab capable of building fully packaged samples, and our world-class RF characterization laboratory.

 

Duration: June/July to December 2026

Responsibilities

In this impactful role you will be working as a core team member in the development of front-end modules for the fast-paced and highly competitive cellular handset market.

  • As a Multi-Chip Module Design Engineer, you will be responsible for developing next-generation, highly integrated RF Front-End Modules for mobile applications.
  • You will work with marketing and systems engineering team to translate customer specifications into design requirements at the multi-chip module (MCM) level.
  • You will be responsible for designing multi-chip modules by collaborating with other RFIC design engineers to achieve the best overall performance.
  • You will be responsible for supporting prototype development activities including evaluation, troubleshooting, and optimization to support timely customer samples.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Available to start June/July 2026 working 40 hours per week in 6 month co-op role
  • Must be enrolled in BSEE or MSEE program
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in ElectroMagnetics (EM)
  • Strong understanding of RF/Microwave fundamentals and Electromagnetic theory
  • Solid understanding of various RF sub-blocks including power amplifiers, low noise amplifiers, RF switches and couplers, filters, and multi-chip module
  • Ability to create 3D circuit model using EM tools and run simulations on passive RF structures and translate between the model, simulation, physical implementation, and measured performance
  • Good communication skills and logical reasoning skills, capable of breaking down complex programs, setting priorities, reporting progress, and executing to schedule
  • Ability to collect test data and debug circuit issues using standard lab instruments

Desired Experience and Skills

  • Good understanding of RF systems and familiarity with cellular standards and RFFE module requirements.
  • Familiarity with electromagnetic (EM) simulation CAD tools, as well as hands-on experience with both time and frequency domain circuit simulators, such as ADS (Momentum, FEM), Cadence (EMX, Spectre), or HFSS.
  • Experience and familiarity with RF test equipment, including network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, DC power supplies, and RF probes.

     
  • Knowledge of network analyzer calibration and reference plane de-embedding

The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $26.00 - $47.50 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $22.50 - $42.00 per hour.

Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location.

Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
