Job description

Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a RPA SENSOR OPERATOR (INSTRUCTOR), Position Description Number D2294000 and is part of the 174TH ATKW, National Guard.

This vacancy does not meet the criteria for appointment of annuitants.

Responsibilities As a RPA SENSOR OPERATOR (INSTRUCTOR), GS-2101-11, you will perform duties as a mission crew member on Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA).

RPA Sensor Operators employ airborne sensors in manual or computer-assisted modes to actively acquire, track, and monitor airborne, maritime and ground objects.

Operates mission equipment, systems, and electronic protection (EP) equipment.

Personnel conduct operations and procedures IAW Special Instructions (SPINS), Air Tasking Orders (ATO) and Rules of Engagement (ROE).

Sensor Operators continually monitor aircraft and weapons systems status to ensure lethal and non-lethal application of airpower, this position is a rated aircrew member on flying status involved in the sensor operation in addition to assisting a rated pilot with various mission tasks.

Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Military Grades: Enlisted GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training in following directives and regulations.

Experience interpreting and applying published directives or regulations.

Experience communicating with others.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 1 year equivalent to at least next lower grade level.

Experience, education, or training routine and non-routine preflight, in-flight, post-flight, ground or command and control (C2) duties according to specific transportation functions.

Receives, interprets, extracts, and disseminates relevant data for mission planning or execution.

Experience coordinating and negotiating with organizations/personnel both orally and in writing to resolve differences/problems.

Experience in operating mission planning ancillary equipment to initialize information for download to airborne mission systems.

Must have experience in receiving target briefs (9-lines) for weapons delivery.

Education If using education to qualify, Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree You must provide a copy of Official Transcripts as documentation to support your educational claims.

To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.

Additional Information If you are a male applicant who was born after 12/31/1959 and are required to register under the Military Selective Service Act, the Defense Authorization Act of 1986 requires that you be registered or you are not eligible for appointment in this agency (Register | Selective Service System : Selective Service System (sss.gov)).

This position is an indefinite appointment that may be made permanent later without competition.

Employees hired under indefinite appointments may not exceed 5 years (consecutive) time with the agency.

The applicant selected may be released at any time subject to a 30-day notice and advised of his/her rights and benefits to which entitled.

If a permanent employee accepts this indefinite position, their tenure will change from permanent to indefinite.
