Clearance:Active DoD Secret Clearance


Work Schedule:Onsite daily.


Role Overview:

In this role, you will design, implement, and manage satellite communications networks using your expertise in SATCOM fundamentals, earth station equipment, and IP network.

You will also use your knowledge of MILSATCOM terminals, earth terminal equipment, baseband equipment, and encryption devices to operate and maintain military satellite communications systems.

Additionally, you will use your knowledge of commercial and tactical/strategic military satellite technology architectures, standards, systems, hardware, and software to provide IP-based satellite and terrestrial data and video services.

+ Skilled in collaborative and individual troubleshooting with a wide range of SATCOM-related equipment and components

Specific Skillset

+ Skilled in Satellite Communications (SATCOM) fundamentals, earth station equipment, and associated terrestrial systems.

+ Experienced in the implementation and delivery of DISN services (VoIP, VoSIP, VTC, JWICS, NIPR, SIPR) through SATCOM Gateways.

+ Advanced IP/Networking experience including routers and switches, subnets, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, RIP), VLANs, ACLs, and multicasting.

+ Knowledge of implementing hybrid networks---terrestrial, satellite and fiber.

+ Ability to manage IP over SATCOM networks using iDirect, Linkway, ViaSat, or equivalent TDMA hubs.

+ Knowledge of RF theory, characteristics, advantages, and disadvantages associated with the myriad SATCOM bands (L, C, X, Ku, and Ka).

+ Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of tactical and strategic MILSATCOM terminals

+ Competence with the operation and maintenance of MILSATCOM earth terminal equipment (up/down converters, modems, high power amplifiers).

+ Experience with utilization of spectrum analyzers for testing and monitoring purposes.

+ Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of MILSATCOM baseband equipment (MIDAS, Convergence routers, IA Tools.).

+ Familiarity with the operation of MILSATCOM COMSEC devices.

+ Knowledge of information technology and knowledge and experience with commercial and tactical military satellite technology architectures, standards, systems, hardware, and software.

+ Knowledge and experience in the provision and service of IP-based satellite and terrestrial data and video for full-time and occasional-use networks.

+ Technical knowledge of mechanical engineering and associated tool kits.

+ Knowledge of cable termination and fabrication.

+ Hands-on experience with a wide variety of tools.



Requirements

Education & Certifications

+ Highschool Diploma or GED Equivalent

+ Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or a related field is preferred but not required

+ CompTIA Security+ is preferred but not required

+ CompTIA A+ is preferred but not required

+ CompTIA Network+ is preferred but not required

Experience Requirements

+ 4+ years of SATCOM-related experience

+ Familiarity with the seven layers of the OSI Model, IPv6, and interest and skill in adapting emerging platforms and new technologies.

+ Knowledge of DoD COMSEC procedures.

+ Familiarity with DoD trouble ticketing systems (GTMS/Remedy), troubleshooting methodologies, and service desk operations.

+ Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite software and advanced Windows Operating System experience.
