Job description

Job Details*Job Location: *Main Campus - Edmond, OK *Position Type: *Faculty *Job Category: *OTRS Classified Description *Position Overview:* This role is a full-time, non-tenure track, continuing instructor position for the School of Engineering within the College of Math and Science at the University of Central Oklahoma.

The instructor will provide a quality learning experience for students.

Performs instruction-related duties and responsibilities on time and per university and CMS mission, policies, and procedures.

They advise and mentor students, evaluate student performance and maintain department and student records per university policies.

The instructor will adhere to the university educational philosophy, work collaboratively with colleagues and professional peers, and participate in university meetings that relate specifically to faculty.

The candidate will serve on department, college, and university committees as requested; prepares departmental reports as required; engages in teaching, service, scholarly, or creative activities as defined by the UCO Employee and Faculty Handbook.

The general schedule for this position is 40 hours a week, and the wage range is commensurate with credentials and experience.

Regular physical attendance is required.

*Department Specific Essential Job Functions:* Specific instructor duties include teaching day/evening classes, graduate/undergraduate courses, and face-to-face/online courses appropriate to their engineering background.

Teaching responsibilities could include courses and laboratories in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Computing, Trig-based and Calculus-based Introductory Physics, and General Education Physical Science.

The successful candidate will have opportunities to participate in and promote collaborative undergraduate research and creative scholarly activities with other department faculty in their engineering field or the field of engineering education.

Additional responsibilities will include serving on departmental, college, and university committees; and service activities appropriate to rank and appointment.

Reports to the Director of the School and the Dean of the College.

*College/Department Overview:* The College of Mathematics and Science currently has 128 full-time and over 70 part-time faculty in 5 academic departments and the Schools of Engineering and Nursing.

The College serves more than 3,300 undergraduate students in 30 majors and provides graduate programs in Biology, Computer Science, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, Applied Mathematical Science, Engineering, Computational Science, and Nursing.

Accreditation/Certification is held by ABET, the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), the American Board of Funeral Service Education, and the American Chemical Society.

UCO is an institutional member of the Council on Undergraduate Research.

*Qualifications/Experience Required:* An earned Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution.

Possesses excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

*Qualifications/Experience Preferred:* A Ph.D. in an engineering field or related discipline is preferred.

Higher-Education teaching experience in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Computing as well as experience in Introductory Physics and Physical Science.
