Overview The Senior Automation Engineer position is an exciting opportunity to join PM Group’s quickly growing Philadelphia area team out of Conshohocken, PA.

We are looking for a Senior Automation Engineer who enjoys client interaction as well as the technical aspects of the position.
Expect project work to include all levels of design: feasibility studies, conceptual & schematic design, construction documentation, and construction administration.
Project sizes will vary and will consist primarily of life science industry projects doing both existing building improvements and new construction.
For this position, we are looking for someone who can provide consulting expertise for Industrial Automation Hardware and Control System Design that is compliant with cGMP regulations, guidance, and best practices.
We also need someone who can assist with control panel design review and instrumentation selection for proper interface and communication to control systems.
This individual will NOT be writing software, configuring SCADA and HMIs, or writing test protocols but needs extensive experience working with them and will need to manage and review this work when completed by a system integrator.
This role is a liaison between the Process / Mechanical Engineer and the System Integrator to ensure all installation, operational and performance requirements are achieved.

Responsibilities Support the Automation Team on various projects as part of a multidiscipline project teamAnalyze complex engineering problems and offer effective solutionsProvide support to fee and capital budget proposals as requiredSupport the management of bid, approval and construction issue Automation packages in an efficient and lean mannerMentor Automation engineering staff at junior and intermediate levels, if requiredCheck other Automation engineers work for accuracy and quality; undertake peer reviewsControl system design for industrial automation equipment from concept stage and onSelect and manage automation contractors throughout the project life cycleReview and comment on system integrator and vendor design documentationCommunicate with automation vendors and stay up to date with the latest automation technology trendsExtensive and independent contact with clients, vendor’s representatives and project field personnelAttend and participate in client and PM Group meetingsDirect and/or participate in project site visits to monitor, review and sign-off on automation / process control installationsPerform technical analysesDrafting & supplementing documentation during the engineering and testing phaseAdjusting PLC softwareAdjusting SCADA applicationsPerforming commissioning tests (FAT and SAT).Drafting customer specific documentsOther special projects as assigned Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Automation / Electronics / Electrical Engineering or similar discipline10+ Years of formal experience in heavy industrial engineering design (preferably in the Pharmaceutical, Biopharmaceutical, Cell & Gene Therapy sectors)Experience with software development and the design of Industrial Control SystemsPLC / DCS based Control Systems design experienceKnowledge of software architectures and design including S88, GAMP, 21CFRPart 11Knowledge of industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Profibus, Controlnet)Commercially aware and has the ability to undertake value engineering activities as well as implement new technologies to provide costs effective solutions for our clientsCommercially aware on project execution, control of budgets, resourcing and change controlMultiple office execution experience is advantageousStrong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to prepare written specifications and contract documents is requiredProfessional approach and demeanor with a strong ethical approach to safety, quality, environmental protection and businessAbility to play a positive role in multi-discipline teams with a reliable, consistent and mature approach to workAll of your information is confidential according to EEO guidelines.
