Overview

Senior Broadcast Engineer - Full Time/Exempt.

Reports to: Senior Director of Production and Chief Broadcast Engineer.

Insignia Event Services is a leading event solutions provider, affiliated with the Arizona Cardinals, producing all events at State Farm Stadium and managing Sportsman’s Park venues.

Our services include full-service event production, staging, equipment rental, live presentation, and transportation logistics for a range of events in Arizona.

Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Sr. Director of Production and Chief Broadcast Engineering, the Senior Broadcast Engineer is responsible for providing technical oversight and operations for all Insignia Event productions.

This includes event preparations and technical support, routine system checks and maintenance, system design, modifications and repair of electronic equipment for all broadcast systems at State Farm Stadium, Arizona Cardinals practice facility, or any internal system.

The Senior Broadcast Engineer will work with and lead full-time and part-time staff, engineering technicians, and event-day support to facilitate live productions for both broadcast and in-stadium presentations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage and support technical operations, maintenance, and improvements of State Farm Stadium's broadcast production systems, MATV, control room, SMPTE 2110 core routing, and associated systems at the stadium and Arizona Cardinals practice facility: including equipment, servers, LED displays, MATV systems, peripherals, and broadcast network.
  • Maintain, improve, and develop event cost estimates, event summaries, and reconciliation.

    Contribute to RFI, RFQ, or RFP information as needed.
  • Develop, document, and adhere to all standard operating procedures for broadcast systems under Insignia’s supervision, broadcast technical services, and game-day/event service procedures.
  • Perform preventative maintenance checks of Insignia broadcast video systems and assist with procurement, rentals, and ordering of broadcast and MATV equipment; manage inventory and assets.
  • Research new technologies and equipment for upgrades to the broadcast video equipment inventory and video systems.
  • Generate cost estimates for live event support and annual video department budget proposals, as needed.
  • Utilize the Insignia Way to enact the department's best practices and policies.
  • Work with, develop, mentor, and manage full-time and part-time broadcast engineering professionals, event-day support personnel, operators, and freelance staff.
  • Conduct ongoing reviews of staffing plans, recruiting, training, and supervision.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure game and event presentation technical requirements are developed, vetted, communicated, and executed efficiently and effectively.
  • Work closely with Production staff, IT, Stadium Operations and other groups across the Arizona Cardinals and State Farm Stadium to resolve problems and assist in their areas of need.
  • Encourage open communication and build consensus.

    Keep stakeholders informed of decisions and directives on a regular basis.

    Use discretion and professionalism in dealing with sensitive information.
  • Promote a flexible and accommodating environment which accepts and understands the organizational structure, processes, systems, timelines, and budget.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent and at least 5-7 years of relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Understanding of IP-based transport of audio/video signals for broadcast television such as SMPTE 2110-7, NDI, etc.
  • Prior experience in the broadcast engineering field, maintaining a technically advanced production control room and/or network infrastructure.
  • Understanding of IP-based production workflow, routing, Cisco network routing and switch configurations.
  • Experience supporting, maintaining, and progressing a broadcast control room, including familiarity with modern broadcast cabling infrastructure used in broadcast environments.
  • Experience with control room equipment such as Imagine Communications SNPs, Evertz DreamCatcher Replay systems, TAG MultiViewer, Sony Cameras, Ross Xpression, Daktronics, IP Control Room Networking, AJA Frame Syncs and related gear, Adder KVM, etc.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), Google Workspace, and proficiency with Mac and PC operating systems.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud including Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects and Media Encoder is a plus.
  • Knowledge or prior experience working with NFL, NCAA Football, or large-venue broadcast engineering operations.
  • Ability to work under high-pressure conditions, establish and achieve personal or team goals, and meet strict deadlines in a live production environment.
  • Ability to manage a high-volume workload in a fast-paced environment; comfortable working in a start-up environment.
  • Flexibility with work varying schedules including evenings, holidays, and weekends; ability to work in extreme environments (e.g., loud environments).
