Job Description:



Pay Range: $50.97hr - $72.31hr


  • The Supplier Quality/Manufacturing Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring supplier performance, process capability, and quality compliance for components and materials used in production.


  • This position requires strong technical, project management, and supplier relationship management skills to support product qualification, risk mitigation, cost reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives.


  • The ideal candidate will be experienced in engineering and manufacturing processes, particularly in metal injection molding (MIM), machining, or plastic injection molding, with proven expertise in Lean, Six Sigma, and supplier quality management practices.




Essential Job Duties:




  • Complete project and part qualification deliverables including Supplier pFMEA, Process Validations (IQ/OQ/PQ), Inspection Reports, Gage R&R, and Process Capability Analysis.


  • Work with suppliers to drive cost reductions, capacity improvements, and risk mitigation strategies.


  • Select appropriate processes and suppliers for parts, considering long-term fit and total cost of ownership.


  • Manage supplier changes including manufacturing process changes, production optimization, facility transfers, equipment qualification, and new line validations.


  • Initiate and manage changes to specifications and drawings through the engineering change order process.


  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for supplier variances, ensuring effective documentation and closure.


  • Prioritize and manage multiple concurrent projects while clearly communicating project status to stakeholders.


  • Build, own, and execute a vision for developing and maturing supplier capabilities.


  • Generate and track key supplier performance metrics, driving accountability and continuous improvement.


  • Apply project management, Lean, Six Sigma, SPC, and negotiation skills to improve supplier processes and performance.


  • Provide timely supply base health information and data-driven recommendations to management.


  • Prepare and deliver supplier communications, including scorecards and performance updates.


  • Partner with suppliers and engineering teams to support new product introduction (NPI), including:

  • Developing supplier readiness plans based on forecast, capacity, and quality performance.


  • Conducting Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews and providing early feedback on design improvements.


  • Supporting supplier selection criteria and leading the evaluation of preferred suppliers.


  • Review, analyze, and close customer complaints, manufacturing variance requests, and first article inspections with sound risk assessment.


  • Evaluate and verify supplier corrective and preventive actions, ensuring issues do not recur.



Required Skills and Experience:


  • Minimum 3 years of related experience in engineering and manufacturing of metal injection molding (MIM), machined metal, or plastic injection molding parts (MIM experience highly desirable).


  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills, including executive-level presentations.


  • Excellent interpersonal and team-building skills.


  • Proven history of implementing Lean, Six Sigma, and SPC programs at suppliers.


  • Strong project management capabilities.


  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with sound judgment.


  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and challenge supplier technical, quality, and business capabilities.


  • Broad knowledge of manufacturing processes with understanding of key input variables for quality, cost, and capacity (specialization in metal fabrication, plastics, electronics, or contract manufacturing).


  • Proficiency with statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab).


  • Ability to read and interpret detailed mechanical drawings (GD&T) and communicate technical requirements effectively.



Education and Training Requirements:


  • Minimum: Bachelor s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related discipline) or equivalent experience.


  • An advanced degree is preferred.



Working Conditions:


  • Ability to travel to suppliers as needed (domestic and international).



Preferred Skills and Experience:


  • Experience with CAD and 3D modeling tools.


  • Prior experience in a high-volume medical device manufacturing environment.
