The **Senior Medical Coder** codes medical records using coding classifications to ensure data integrity and proper assignment of codes based on coding guidelines.
In this role, you will be responsible for accurate record documentation to support correct code assignments, reimbursement, precise reporting of services rendered, and compliance with government regulations.
You'll train and mentor staff, provide directions to lower-level employees, and may provide input for performance improvement.
**Schedule:** M-F Standard Business Hours
You will enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.
**Primary Responsibilities:**
+ Codes Inpatient Facility medical records using coding classifications to ensure data integrity and proper assignments
+ Working daily with MS-DRGs, APR-DRGs, Physician Queries, and ICD-10 PCS coding
+ Analyzes medical records to ensure accurate coding and send provider feedback to improve the quality of documentation
+ Collects and abstracts data elements
+ Assists customers to address complex issues related to unbilled and incomplete records
+ Identifies and suggests areas of improvement in high compliance risk coding areas and improve the quality of provider documentation to support code assignment and billing

**Required Qualifications:**
+ High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
+ Professional coder certification with credentialing from AHIMA (RHIT, RHIA, CCS, OR CIC) to be maintained annually
+ 3+ years of experience in Acute Care Inpatient medical coding (hospital, facility, etc.)
+ 3+ years of experience working DRG coding with a mastery of complex procedures, cardiac catheterization, complex cardiology, interventional radiology, orthopedic and neurology cases
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration
+ Associate's or Vocational degree in Health Information
+ Experience working with governmental compliance rules/regulations and coding guidelines

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc.
In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).

The hourly pay for this role will range from $23.41 to $41.83 per hour based on full-time employment.
