Overview

The Senior Manager, Lifetime Support for Artists holds a leadership position within the YoungArts programs team.

The Senior Manager collaborates with the Lifetime Support team in managing the day-to-day operations of alumni resources and activities for artists.

This work encompasses growing a network of varied resources to support artists across multiple stages of career and life development: skills for professionalization and/or career development, opportunities for monetization and income, mentorship/apprenticeship relationships, building financial agency, mental health and well-being, and unrestricted funding opportunities for artists across their lifetimes.

In particular, this position is responsible for leading the management of the established alumni national residency programs, established fellowships programs, and established awards programs.

The development of this portfolio includes budget creation/tracking/reporting, stewarding partnerships, crafting and managing open calls, facilitating YoungArts management of associated artists, soliciting artists feedback, and documenting participation records.

This role also collaborates with Advancement and Partnership Initiatives in service of the growth of the Lifetime Support suite of programs.

Additionally, Senior Manager, Lifetime Support for Artists supports the Senior Director, Lifetime Support for Artists in collaborating with the entirety of the Lifetime Support team.

Senior Manager, Lifetime Support of Artists helps YoungArts build the community of winners, external partners, artist service organizations, donors, and thought leaders working in the artist support spaces.

Direct Reporting

The Senior Manager, Lifetime Support for Artists reports to the Senior Director, Lifetime Support for Artists.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Senior Director, Lifetime Support for Artists to execute and document strategy for internal operational excellence of the alumni portfolio, including the management of cross-team collaboration and project management infrastructures that will support growth and transformation of existing programs.

  • Collaborate with Lifetime Support team to develop and document team planning processes, programmatic language development, timelines, and budgeting.

  • Collaborate with Senior Director, Lifetime Support for Artists and Director, Partnerships and New Initiatives to study new partnership opportunities with an eye on operationalizing within YoungArts systems.

  • Lead the management of established alumni national residencies, established fellowship programs, and established awards programs: budget creation/tracking/reporting, stewarding partnerships, crafting and managing open calls, facilitating YoungArts management of the associated artists, soliciting artists feedback, and documenting participation records.

  • Collaborate with Advancement to facilitate alumni and adult artist opportunity within Advancement events.

  • In coordination with team members, execute invoices and contracts for the Lifetime Support for Artists team.

  • Support the transformation of programs data collection methods and tools to track, learn about, and connect all artists in the community.

  • Collaborate with Senior Director, Integrated Advancement to aggregate, analyze, and report about programmatic activity for all stakeholders.

  • Provide mentorship and effective training to all contractors who participate in resource distribution, ensuring ethical decision-making and the widest distribution of funds.

  • Contribute to the annual development of the budget and revenue strategy.

  • Recognize innovative ways that YoungArts can expand and adapt its programming, ensuring that cutting edge approaches are utilized for greater reach and impact.

  • Develop and steward relationships with award winners, artists, and cultural organizations to support programmatic growth; represent YoungArts in national convenings and contribute thought leadership to the field.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Depth of experience developing artist-centered operational practices.

  • Evidence of knowledge across arts practices, with preference for expertise in performing, visual, and/or literary arts.

  • Experience in developing and managing programs appropriate to artists development and individualized goals for success.

  • Evidence of strong leadership skills, including decisiveness, emotional intelligence, prioritization, negotiation, and equanimity in a fast-paced environment.

  • Evidence of experience in utilizing program management software including Excel, Submittable, and AirTable.

  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills.

  • Experience with budget development and management.

  • Flexibility to work outside of regular office hours for programs and events.


Education
  • Bachelors degree or the equivalent in education and experience
  • 5+ years of progressive experience managing high-performing teams and evidence of responsibility growth in the arts and culture field
  • Experience beyond requirement will be considered in lieu of education requirement

Working conditions

YoungArts physical campus and headquarters are in Miami, FL or New York, NY.

Work is performed in a hybrid (virtual and in-office) setting.

Typical operations take place in an office environment and/or in an event/venue setting.

General working hours

General working hours are 9:00 am5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

The nature of our work will sometimes require an adjustment to this schedule, including evenings and weekends.

You will normally be advised in advance should your work schedule be adjusted.

Travel may be required.
