Purpose:
The Senior Structural Engineer will lead and support the Civil, Structural, and Architectural (CSA) Engineering team for projects in the .

Mining, Minerals, and Metals (MMM) business.

Manage projects of varying sizes, ensuring quality, cost, and schedule adherence.

Oversee the CSA Engineering team's output, technical integrity, and compliance with safety standards while driving engineering excellence and adherence to industry codes.

This is a full-time position based at our Mesa, Arizona office, with potential project assignments in Tucson, Arizona or other regions within US.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage CSA engineering projects within the heavy industrial sector, including mining, power generation, oil & gas, pulp & paper, and chemical processing.

  • Act as the project lead designer/engineer, overseeing engineers, designers, and drafters.
  • Interpret customer specifications and coordinate across disciplines.
  • Define project scope, estimate work, and track CSA engineering progress.
  • Lead RFPs, estimations, detailed engineering, and field support.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, industry standards, and customer specifications.
  • Support quality assurance and verification of engineering deliverables.
  • Identify and resolve engineering issues, staying up to date with advancements in CSA engineering.
  • Ensure project scope clarity and compliance with change management processes.
  • Assist during procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.
  • Liaise with clients, vendors, and internal/external teams.
  • Mentor junior and intermediate staff.
  • Perform structural analysis and design for steel, concrete, and specialized structures.
  • Utilize engineering software such as STAAD Pro and Mathcad; familiarity with structural 3D modeling tools (Aveva E3D, Smart 3D) is a plus.
  • Collaborate on strategic pursuits and proposal development for the CSA discipline.
  • Review detailed engineering designs, calculations, and drawings, providing professional engineering stamps when required.
  • Deliver high-quality engineering solutions while ensuring safety, efficiency, and value optimization.
  • What you will bring

    Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8+ years of experience as a Lead or Senior Structural Engineer within the mining industry.
  • 4+ years of experience in structural engineering applications within heavy industrial environments.

    Experience in mining environments is preferred, but transferable experience from heavy industrial industries such as power generation, oil & gas, pulp & paper, and chemical processing will be considered.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Structural Engineering in the state of Arizona or the ability to obtain licensure within an expedited timeframe.

  • Advanced degree in Structural Engineering is a plus.
  • Familiarity with mining regulatory/MSHA certification and standards is preferred.
  • 2+ years of EPC/EPCM project experience is preferred.
