As a Senior Systems Administrator specializing in Unix/Linux, you will be responsible for the effective management, maintenance, and configuration of our Unix and Linux-based systems.
You will play a critical role in ensuring system performance, security, and reliability while providing technical expertise and support to various teams across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Administration: Manage, configure, and maintain Unix and Linux server environments, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability.
- Performance Tuning: Monitor system performance and proactively resolve issues using diagnostic tools and techniques to optimize resource utilization.
- Security Management: Implement and enforce security configurations, policies, and practices to protect systems from unauthorized access and vulnerabilities.
- Patch Management: Develop and execute patch management strategies to ensure systems are up-to-date with the latest security updates and software enhancements.
- Backup and Recovery: Design and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Automation: Create and maintain scripts (using Bash, Python, or other scripting languages) to automate routine tasks and improve operational efficiency.
- Technical Support: Provide advanced troubleshooting and support for system-related issues, collaborating with other IT teams as necessary.
- Documentation: Maintain system documentation, including configuration files, standards, and procedures for backup, recovery, and system integration.
- Collaboration: Work closely with development, network, and cybersecurity teams to deploy and support applications within Unix/Linux environments.
- Training: Mentor junior system administrators and assist with onboarding new team members.
Requirements
- Five (5) years of professional experience in relation to UNIX and/or Linux system administration of networks and software systems.
- Experience in system backup/recovery, basic software management, security and library management, installation and configuration of hardware, operating systems and COTS software, operating computer systems in different operating environments, sizing, performance, tuning, hardware/software /network trouble shooting and resource allocation.
- Experience in maintaining proficiency in major network security tools such as firewalls.
- Experience developing system specifications and performing market research procurement tasks.
- Experience with different network protocols including TCP/IP.
- Experience of computing and networking vulnerabilities, and attach and latest detect methods.
- This position is required to be designated as IAT II level with a T5.
