JOB SUMMARY: The Site Technician is responsible for maintaining statewide passenger facilities for Delaware Transit Corporation (DTC).

The Site Technician performs and monitors activities involved with the installation and maintenance of bus stop locations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Position Specific:

  • Support all facilities-related activities
  • Assist with statewide courier services to include pick-up and delivery of confidential information
  • Assist with general operational needs as directed
  • Assist during service change or temporary service interruptions
  • Technical Skills:

  • Perform duties using a variety of general use hand and power tools and equipment
  • Evaluate and monitor the conditions of bus stops, signs, shelters and pedestrian walkways along routes
  • Perform minor repairs and adjustments to passenger amenities
  • Ensure the general upkeep and appearance of passenger facilities by removing weeds, trash and debris from bus stops/shelters and power washing bus shelters and surrounding areas
  • Perform snow and ice removal as needed
  • Collaboration:

  • Interact regularly with a diverse customer base
  • Compliance:

  • Inspect bus stops and facilities to ensure safety and compliance with all federal, state and local codes
  • Wear personal protective equipment and comply with safety regulations
  • Performs other duties as requested by Senior Management

    QUALIFICATIONS: The Site Technician requiresknowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements as they relate to transit passenger facilities.

    Knowledge of standard safety principles and procedures and basic gardening and grounds maintenance is necessary.

    The ability to adapt the application of current and evolving information technology to the workload is also required.

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Demonstrate strong motivational, time management, problem-solving, presentation, prioritization and organizational skills.

    Ability to be detail-oriented.

    Ability to work independently with general supervision and the ability to keep information confidential.

    Skill in the use of power tools and hand tools to perform general maintenance and repairs.

    Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle with additional equipment such as a trailer and snow plow.

    Ability to use a ladder (up to 10’ in height) in order to inspect and repair bus shelters, install signage, etc.

    COMPUTER SKILLS: Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office software products as well as various computer and web-based information systems.

    CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS: Strong interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and create positive connections with customers.

    Ability to meet goals to increase efficiency improving customer service.

    MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or equivalent.

    One (1) – three (3) years’ experience operating and using a variety of equipment, including power and hand tools.

    One (1) year of experience in facility maintenance or construction.

    REQUIRED CERTIFICATES/REGISTRATIONS:  Must possess a valid driver’s license.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS: Excellent oral and written communication skills.

    Ability to read, analyze and interpret written directions as well as user’s manuals and product labels.

    Ability to respond to inquiries.

    Bilingual a plus.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts.

    Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

    REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

    Ability to maintain a level and appropriate business demeanor.
