About the job
We're seeking a Software Developer / C (Emerging Careers) to help accelerate the connection between data and analytics.
Our team enhances SAS capabilities to run faster and more securely with big data by leveraging parallelism, DBMS features, in-database execution, and optimized file access.
In this role, you'll contribute to software quality throughout the development lifecycle—quality and trust are core to the SAS brand.

Agile practices keep us on a predictable delivery cadence, continuously refined to meet team needs.
You’ll also have opportunities to work with teams in Advanced Analytics, Visual Analytics, and Risk Fraud, contributing to platform enhancements that support their products.
Expect to use and potentially contribute to open-source technologies as part of your work.
As a Software Developer / C (Emerging Careers), you will:
Contribute to a largely C codebase to run SAS code in external data platforms, integrating with SAS Viya and other platforms.Design and develop high-quality, testable, scalable software solutions within established timelines while adhering to R&D best practices and processes.Participate in project scoping and scheduling; track progress of individual tasks and alert stakeholders of issues blocking or preventing task completion.Design, develop, and execute test plans, scenarios, and processes.
Interact with other developers to test program code to ensure software quality and functionality.Work collaboratively with the team to encourage quality as a critical design element in all work efforts.Be encouraged to participate in open-source projects on behalf of SAS.Ensure all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support the organization's secure software development goals.

Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field2+ years of software development experience developing system-level software2+ years of C or C++ software development2 years of DBMS and SQL experience2 years of Python software development2 years of Linux shell scriptingAdditional competencies, knowledge and skills
