Software Engineer–Developer (Associate, Experienced, Senior)

The Boeing Company is currently seeking Software Engineers–Developers (Associate, Experienced or Senior) to support our Patriot Advanced Capability 3 (PAC-3) team located in Huntsville, Alabama. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

Boeing’s Advanced Design and Prototype Solutions (ADaPS) organization is looking for Software Engineers / Developers to contribute to the software development of the PAC-3 (Patriot Advanced Capability 3) missile defense system.

The software engineer will join a team developing and testing complex software for the PAC-3 program.

ADaPS (an organization of over 100 software engineers) specializes in implementing rapid prototyping and development programs using small, adaptable agile teams.

The organization supports programs across the entire portfolio of Boeing products including Space Launch System (SLS), Integrated Air Missile Defense efforts including Patriot Advanced Capability, and a variety of weapons, aircraft, and space programs across the Boeing Enterprise.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop, document and maintain architecture, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software products

  • Develop, test and maintain software for PAC-3 systems

  • Develop technical products, plans, documentation, and briefings in support of program requirements

  • Work in small agile teams composed of diverse engineering skills

  • Debug and resolve issues identified to ensure the reliability and efficiency of software products

  • Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Ability to obtain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance-Final Post-Start

  • 2+ years of experience with programming with C, C++, Python and/or shell scripts

  • Operating system knowledge of LINUX or Windows

  • Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

  • 2+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience with missile defense sensor algorithms or algorithms for digital signal processing

  • Experience with Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment practices

  • Experience with instituting and maintaining DevSecOps practices and processes

  • Experience with real-time operating systems, e.g. VxWorks

  • Some work experience or knowledge of telemetry protocols and testing

  • Some software projects involving the development of models, simulations, or control systems

  • Travel: Less than 5% of the time

    Summary pay range for Associate Level: $86,700 - $117,300

    Summary pay range for Experienced Level: $107,100 - $144,900

    Summary pay range for Senior Level: $127,500 - $172,500
