**Internship Position Description:**

We are seeking a software development intern to join our team during the summer of 2026.

This position offers a valuable opportunity for a student to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and real-world software development setting.

The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, and the capability to collaborate effectively within a team.

Additionally, they should be able to work independently on tasks with minimal daily supervision.

This role will provide exposure to programming in complex, large-scale, multi-threaded mainframe production environments.

**Job Duties and Responsibilities:**

+ Our intern will apply their skills to a meaningful project in a team environment working alongside a technical mentor.
+ Research, provide analysis, and offer solutions relating to the functional project.
+ Contribute to project planning.
+ Read, understand and improve existing C++/Java code.
+ Identify performance bottlenecks and recommend areas for optimization.
+ If applicable, determine and examine alternative solutions to functional project.
+ Document project overview and solution summary.

**Qualifications (Education, Experience and Certifications):**

+ Students must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university.
+ Students should be pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related major.
+ Student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
+ Student is to successfully complete all required screenings prior to hire.
+ **Student must be a United States Citizen or Permanent Resident of the United States.**

Required Skills:

+ Strong C++, Java and Object-Oriented Programming.
+ Solid Linux/UNIX background.
+ Work well in a team environment.
+ Working knowledge of software engineering best practices.
+ Strong analytical, problem solving and debugging skills.
+ Good self-management, organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.

**WORKING CONDITIONS, MENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS**

+ Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation, and a normal range of temperature and noise level.
+ Work assignments are diversified.

Interpret, comprehend and apply complex material, data and instruction.
+ Prepare, provide and convey diversified information.
+ Minimal physical effort required.

Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically with less than 10 lbs.

(e.g., papers, books, files and small parts, etc.).
+ Moderate dexterity.
+ Regular application of basic skills (calculator, keyboard, hand tools, eye/hand coordination.
