Position Summary
Federal Data Systems (FEDDATA) is looking for a software engineer to join our development team and support feature and capability development for FEDDATA’s Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) SaaS platform, Revelare™.
This individual will work within our Platform team to design, develop, troubleshoot, debug, and integrate new features.
This includes software components such as existing Frameworks, APIs, Websites, Utilities, Databases, Structured and Unstructured data stores, and various open-source related tools.
Essential Job Functions
• Software Development: Design, implement, and maintain high-quality software solutions catering to our platform's evolving needs.
• Debug existing software and correct defects.
• Data manipulation, normalization, collection and cleaning.
• Provide recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards.
• Design and code new software or modify existing software to add new features.
• Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments.
• Develop data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositories.
Minimum Required Qualifications
• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline is required.
• Must have 5 years of experience in software development.
• Experience with data collection (sourcing, scraping, APIs, etc).
• Experience identifying, collecting, managing, and processing large amounts of data.
• Experience with popular NLP libraries, such as NLTK.
• Experience in considering and implementing secure and optimized solutions.
• Languages: Python, Java, JavaScript
• Datastores: Mongo, SQL, Elasticsearch
• Operating System(s): Linux
• Proven track record of developing production ready capabilities for inclusion in a commercial software product.
Desired/Preferred Skills:
• A Masters degree in Computer Science with a focus track of Data Science or similar.
• A portfolio, GitHub or other, with example code base(s).
• Experience developing cloud-based services.
• Experience in model-view-controller design and development.
• Experience working on waterfall hybrid-based projects.
• Basic HTML/CSS knowledge.
Working Conditions:
Work is typically based in a busy office environment and subject to frequent interruptions.
Business work hours are normally set from Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm Eastern Standard Time (EST), however some extended or weekend hours may be required.
Additional details on the precise hours will be informed to the candidate from the Program Manager/Hiring Manager.
Physical Requirements:
May be required to lift and carry items weighting up to 25 lbs.
Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching and bending throughout the workday.
Background Screening/Check/Investigation:
Successful Completion of a Background Screening/Check/Investigation will be required as a condition of hire.
