We are looking for a smart, passionate, and driven intern to join our Staples team and you might be the person we are looking for.

**_This intern position requires you to be in a hybrid working model (at least 3 days in the office, and 2 days remote) based at the Staples, Inc.

Corporate Headquarters in Framingham, MA._**

**Target Start Date:** June 1, 2026 - August 14, 2026 (11-week program)

**Position #1: Software Engineer for AI**
**What You'll Be Doing:**
• Assist in developing and testing search algorithms and models.
• Support the implementation of NLP techniques for query understanding.
• Work on data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation.
• Collaborate with team members to improve search performance and relevance.
• Conduct research and stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI and search technologies.

**What's Needed - Basic Qualifications:**
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of machine learning, NLP, and information retrieval.
• Familiarity with programming languages like Python, Java, or C++.
• Exposure to machine learning libraries (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-Learn) and technologies ( langchain, LangSmith ) is a plus.
• Eager to learn and experiment with new technologies in a collaborative environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

**What's Needed - Preferred Skills:**
• Adoptability and flexibility and willingness to learn new things quickly
• Understanding of search platforms (Elasticsearch, Solr) is a bonus.
• Basic knowledge of big data tools (Hadoop, Spark) is beneficial.
• Previous projects or coursework related to search, ML, or AI are highly valued.
• Enjoy working in teams and being highly communicative
• Able to multi-task and be flexible to new initiatives

**Position #2: Software Engineer for UI (Frontend)**
**What You'll Be Doing:**
• Develop and maintain front-end components using React.js.
• Assist in building and integrating backend APIs using Node.js.
• Collaborate with the design and development teams to implement user-friendly UI/UX.
• Debug and optimize code for performance and scalability.
• Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in web development.

**What's Needed - Basic Qualifications:**
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Basic knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Familiarity with React.js and its core principles.
• Understanding of Node.js and RESTful API integration.
• Eager to learn, with a passion for web development and UI design.

**What's Needed - Preferred Skills:**
• Experience with version control systems like Git.
• Basic understanding of state management libraries (Redux, Context API).
• Knowledge of front-end build tools like Webpack or Babel.
• Exposure to databases (e.g., MongoDB, MySQL) and server-side development.

**Position #3: Software Engineer for Backend (Java )**
**What You'll Be Doing:**
• Assist in developing and testing eCom backend models.
• Support the implementation Java based frame works like Spring, Spring boot .
• Should be able to think differently for Software Solutions.
• Collaborate with team members to improve backend Services performance.
• Conduct research and stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in Technology with AI based thought process.

**What's Needed - Basic Qualifications:**
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of machine learning, NLP, and information retrieval.
• Familiarity with programming languages like Java or Python
• Exposure to machine learning libraries (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-Learn) is a plus.

**Position #4: Software Engineer for CICD/Dev Ops**

**What You'll Be Doing:**
• Assist in developing and testing eCom CICD pipelines/models.
• Should be able to think differently for seamless deployment of the code in multiple environments.
• Collaborate with team members to improve backend Services performance.
• Conduct research and stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in Technology with AI based thought process.

**What's Needed - Basic Qualifications:**
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, Shell, or Ruby.
• Knowledge of programming languages like Java, Go, or Node.js is a plus.
• Experience with Git, including knowledge of branching, merging, and handling pull requests.
• Basic knowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, Travis CI, or Azure DevOps.
• Experience or willingness to learn tools like Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
• Basic understanding of Docker, Kubernetes, or similar container orchestration platforms.
• Exposure to cloud services such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, especially services related to compute, storage, and networking.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana)..
