PLEASE NOTE: The starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience and is anticipated to be in the range of $5,158.00 per month to $8,750.00 per month.

About the Position


This is a full-time, one-year temporary position.

This ITS Solutions Developer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, supporting, debugging and enhancing developed application software, data integrations, and other solutions to support faculty, staff, and student success initiatives.

This position collaborates with project manager(s), solution partner(s), other technical team members, CSU Chancellor’s Office, and third-party vendors to deliver robust solutions and integrations with laser focus on data integrity.


Under the direction of the ITS Director, this position is responsible for understanding and analyzing the evolving technological needs of the campus community, supporting existing and/or new products while maintaining data integrity, security, and accessibility standards.


Responsibilities


Product Design, Administration, Development and Support:

  • Install, configure, design, develop, test, implement, maintain, enhance, and support assigned products.

    Including but not limited to software, databases, and other technology stack for assigned products.


  • Architect solutions by aligning complex requirements to IT products and solutions.

  • Provide data and application integration between core applications and external third parties, and connectivity between two or more third parties.

  • Apply advanced knowledge and broad understanding of technical architecture to develop, maintain, support, and scale multipurpose integration processes, platforms, and implements extensible API connectors.

  • Leverage modern integration tool(s) to enable multi-platform data and application integration for all products & solutions within the ITS ecosystem.

  • Administer and operate assigned ITS platform(s)

  • Upgrade to the latest release of the products.

  • Stay up-to-date on product features and functionalities.


  • Implement best practices for application lifecycle management and product management.

  • Facilitate meetings and workshops to gather requirements and promote process improvement.

  • Automate processes where feasible and reduce technical debt.

  • Work in a cross functional environment with various groups and end users to identify, document, and implement solutions to support various projects and initiatives.

  • Provide responsive Tier-2 support for production issues and outages, helping to ensure minimal downtime, loss of productivity and service.

  • Apply effective troubleshooting and problem resolution techniques.

  • Prepare comprehensive root cause analysis and present alternative solutions with cost/benefit/risk perspective.

  • Adhere to Accessibility Section 508 Compliance standards in all technical work.
  • Technical Project Coordination, Collaboration and Consultation:

  • Serve as technical project manager/coordinator for assigned projects.

  • Define and document functional needs, project scope, project plans for assigned projects, or coordinate the resources needed to execute these tasks.

  • Write functional requirements into technical specifications.

  • Estimate cost, resources, level of effort, and time for projects, enhancements, and assigned tasks.

  • Identify and document requirements, specifications, test plans for assigned projects.

  • Communicate project status/risks/issues effectively with management, end-users, and other stakeholders.

  • Provide technical expertise and recommendations in the evaluation, purchase, upgrade, and maintenance of technology products.

  • Consult with various stakeholders to understand their technological needs, help solve business problems, and achieve desired outcomes.

  • Partner with faculty and staff to identify technology opportunities and determine the overall functional and technical requirements and specifications.

    These opportunities include but are not limited to process and workflow issues and new software/system requirements.

  • Perform research, discovery, and gather data to develop insightful conclusions and generate solutions to address end user needs.


  • Promote the features and functionalities of existing products within the ITS ecosystem to drive adoption, utilization, and increase value.

  • Structure and author documentation with clear focus and content.

  • Provide applicable documentation as part of software development life cycle (SDLC) and other end user documentation, such as quick steps, knowledge articles, video tutorials, and more as applicable.

  • Prepare and deliver information and ideas through verbal communication (meetings and presentations).

  • Provide end user training and communication materials to users that maximize their ability to utilize product capabilities, features, and other resources as applicable.

  • Collaborate with solution vendors and/or external consultants and users to deliver new solutions or enhance existing products.

  • Coordinate with database and system administrator to ensure adequate backup and plan for business resumption and continuity for assigned products.

  • Maintain and update documentation of assigned product(s) in the team's shared drive.
  • Other Duties:

  • Design, develop and implement infrastructure changes that integrate key data from campus applications into the overall architecture using Application Program interfaces (APIs) and best practices.

  • Deliver reports, dashboards, business/technical intelligence or insights as requested.

  • Keep current on new technologies and solutions in higher education

  • Take on additional duties assigned by the Director.
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline or equivalent combination of related education and relevant work experience.

  • Experience in designing, developing, implementing, and supporting technological solutions.

  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

  • Required Qualifications

  • Experience in programming, database design, SQL, data integration as well as experience with scripting languages, such as Java, Apex, or similar.

  • Experience with cloud based products.

  • Knowledge and experience in using configurable integration tools, .

    Boomi, Mulesoft, etc.

  • Ability to work with end users to define functional requirements and to translate those requirements into technical specifications and develop effective solutions.

  • Attention to detail in communicating technical issues and implementing solutions.

  • Customer service attitude and willingness to work in a cross functional team.

  • Experience with project coordination, including the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, effectively manage time, and prioritize tasks.

  • Ability to monitor and manage vendor relationships to assure responsiveness and quality.

  • Knowledge of lean and agile methodologies.

  • Strong communication skills: active listening, verbal, and written, including strong technical writing and documentation skills.

  • Ability to evaluate complex problems and provide straightforward recommendations and/or solutions, and successfully implement those solutions.

  • Proven interpersonal, analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities.

  • One or more professional certifications in technologies used at Cal State East Bay (.

  • Demonstrated solution development experience aligning complex requirements to cloud based products and solutions.
