JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB SUMMARY: The Educational Leadership Support Center (ELSC)-based Special Education Interventionist will be supervised by a member of the Cedar Rapids Community School District Special Services Director Team, and will be deployed as an extension of the ELSC Behavior Specialist Team.
This team member will receive ongoing training, coaching and daily direction from ELSC Behavior Specialists.The Special Education Interventionist will coach school team members, including administrators, on the use of evidence-based instructional and behavioral strategies within the school setting.
This position will build capacity through coaching and modeling to meet the academic, behavioral and social-emotional needs of students.
The interventionist responsibilities may include, but not be limited to: implementation and modeling of evidenced-based strategies; observations, data collection, and analysis; modeling and coaching the implementation of behavior intervention plans; facilitating collaborative planning; and ensuring that behavior intervention plans are implemented with fidelity.
The ELSC-based Special Education Interventionist, while working with school teams, will focus on listening, building relationships, and teamwork, as well as being a source of inspiration and motivation.
ORGANIZATIONAL AND REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: The Special Education Interventionist will report directly to their assigned Director of Special Services and will receive daily direction from members of the ELSC Behavior Specialist team.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
+ Engage in active communication and build positive relationships with CRCSD students and staff
+ Assist with data collection procedures associated with FBA/BIP planning
+ Analyze behavioral trends and patterns
+ Assist with establishment of capacity necessary for BIP implementation
+ Conduct fidelity checks using BIP implementation checklists
+ Provide coaching and modeling of interventions outlined in the BIP
+ Assist with the development of visual supports and other materials to facilitate student and staff success
+ Attend team meetings within the building for the purpose of communication and service coordination, when requested
+ Coaching and modeling of response strategies and de-escalation techniques

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds 0 - 12 feet and occasionally up to 20 feet, such as curriculum materials, desks, chairs, and boxes.
The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables and carts.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus while supervising students and working with computers, written materials, reports, assessment data, etc.
The noise level in the work environment fluctuates.
The position requires the commitment of professional working hours that may require the employee to extend beyond the school day specific to the buildings they are assigned to.
The employee will frequently work in different areas of the building including in/at desks, on or near the floor, standing, in movement during indoor and outdoor activities, etc.
The employee will usually work in indoor temperatures but will work outdoors or when behavior supports are put in place outside of the classroom.
INTELLECTUAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and implement ideas contained in technical documents, assessment data, professional journals and regulations.
Ability to effectively write reports and communications to students, colleagues, parents and staff.
Ability to effectively present information orally and respond to questions from administrators, teachers, staff and students.
Ability to solve problems effectively.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
