Applied AI means AI that is put to work to solve real-world problems and attain practical goals within the constraints of running a business.

Our team leverages Amazon’s expertise to build applied AI solutions that businesses love and trust for their day-to-day success.

We're creating the products and tools that people will need to do great work with their AI workforce in future.

We're a 2 pizza team moving fast to build a new agentic product from the ground up.

If you are scrappy and bias for action is your favorite LP, you will fit right in.

You will lead a team of applied scientists and software developers, driving the technical vision while fostering a culture of innovation and scientific excellence.

You must be excellent at balancing business needs and strategic thinking with hands-on technical depth.

We're prioritizing the following experience:
- Experience implementing reinforcement learning for autonomous agent behavior
- Managing project portfolios and resource allocation across multiple high priority programs
- Knowledge of personalization systems, recommendation engines, or dynamic content generation
- Production operational experience

Basic Qualifications
- PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field
- 7+ years in applied research, with 3+ years of people management experience
- Track record of leading successful research projects and delivering business impact
- Strong publication record in top-tier conferences/journals (CVPR, NeurIPS, ICML, etc.)
- Experience managing technical teams in ML or AI
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical concepts to various audiences
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in AI agent architecture design, including decision-making frameworks and behavioral modeling
- Knowledge of multi-modal AI systems
- Experience in professional software development

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets.

The base pay for this position ranges from $196,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $340,300/year in our highest geographic market.

Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Amazon is a total compensation company.

Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
