**The Role**

As a Service Reliability Engineer at Proofpoint you will be responsible for provisioning, maintaining, and scaling our production services and server farms across multiple data centers and in hyperscaler environments like AWS.

You will contribute to the architecture to improve scalability, service reliability, capacity, and performance.

You will write automation code for provisioning and operating this infrastructure at massive scale.

You will work with development and QA on building pipelines and automation for delivering and deploying production applications to this infrastructure.

If you’re the enthusiastic team player who cares about the infrastructure, remains calm in crisis, collaborates cross functionally, and easily writes code for automation we want to talk to you.

**Your day-to-day**

+ Assist in the design, testing, and rollout of a Microsoft Exchange environment mixed with the Proofpoint Archiving Product line.
+ Manage a heterogeneous (Linux/Windows) multi-site global 7x24 environment.
+ Help ensure proper security, monitoring, alerting and reporting are in place for the infrastructure.
+ Support multiple VMware vSphere environments.
+ Work with and provide cross training to other Operations team members to help ensure adequate overall coverage.
+ Troubleshooting and resolving escalated issues.
+ Capacity planning for all aspects of the infrastructure.
+ Developing and maintaining processes, tools, and documentation in support of the production environment.

Experience with configuration management at scale is an asset.
+ Participate in evaluation of new software, hardware and infrastructure solutions.
+ Participation on-call rotation and be available 24/7 in an escalation capacity.

**What you bring to the team**

+ BS or MIS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
+ Strong working knowledge of Active Directory/Exchange Server/Windows Server internals and core systems services (Mailbox, Hub Transport/Edge Transport, Client Access, Database Availability Group, Active, Directory, Clustering, DNS, SMTP, DHCP, NFS, SMB, LDAP, etc.).
+ Working knowledge of Linux and core systems services.
+ Thorough understanding of Ethernet and TCP/IP networking.
+ Experience running a medium to large scale Windows mixed environment.
+ Ability to work on multiple projects in parallel while maintaining quality from start to finish.
+ Skilled in consolidation and optimization of computing environment.
+ Experience with the design, implementation, and maintenance of Microsoft Exchange & Active Directory.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

This position will be required to work with teams across the organization.
+ Minimum of 5 years hands-on detailed Windows Exchange & Active Directory experience.
+ Experience with public cloud providers such as AWS or Microsoft Azure.

**Base Pay Ranges:**

SF Bay Area, New York City Metro Area:

Base Pay Range: 132,160.00 - 207,680.00 USD

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Washington DC Metro, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Texas, Washington, Virginia, and Alaska:

Base Pay Range: 109,410.00 - 171,930.00 USD

All other cities and states excluding those listed above:

Base Pay Range: 98,700.00 - 155,100.00 USD
