Our team owns the implementation, adoption, and maintenance of new disruptive and innovative Building Information Modeling (BIM) and GenAI technologies, both first-party and third-party, that support the design, construction, and operation of Amazon-owned data center facilities globally.

We are looking for a talented Senior Software Development Engineer (SDE) who is passionate about driving innovation in the Architecture, Engineering, Construction (AEC) industry through the power of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Generative AI technologies.

As a senior member of our team, you will be responsible for shaping the long-term technical strategy and architecture for our disruptive BIM and GenAI solutions.

You will work closely with business partners to design, implement and launch new products and services that support the design, construction and operation of Amazon's global data center facilities.

The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in developing secure, scalable software solutions, ideally in the context of the AEC industry.

You should have a proven track record of leading the architecture, design and implementation of highly available, distributed systems.

Strong technical skills are a must, but you'll also need to demonstrate your ability to dive deep, define product strategy, and drive change across medium to large engineering initiatives.

Key job responsibilities
- Serve as a technical lead on our most demanding, cross-functional projects.
- Translate functional requirements into robust, scalable, supportable solutions that work well within the overall system architecture.
- Evaluate and make decisions about the use of new or existing software products and tools.
- Help establish technical standards and drive the overall technical architecture and engineering practices.
- Have unique exposure to Building Information Modeling and GenAI technologies used in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) of our data center facilities globally.
Work closely with data center engineers, BIM technologists, and other end users to design experiments with machine learning / deep learning techniques and implement end-to-end solutions.
Liaise the implementation of third-party technology or API, align and influence technology roadmaps.
Employ the highest security bar when building and shipping new software products and tools.
Make significant contributions to the team roadmap and future planning.
Mentor and guide junior engineers on design, coding, troubleshooting and operational excellence.
Be a member of the Amazon-wide Software Development Community, participating in internal and external Meetups, Hackathons and Conferences.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 7+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
- 7+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 7+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 7+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience developing custom BIM software and integrations with third-party API like Autodesk Platform Services
- Experience building software on AWS
