About the Role
The Core Infrastructure Team is the backbone of Eightfold, responsible for the architecture, maintenance, and enhancement of critical elements of our technology stack.
This includes infrastructure supporting our Search, Databases, Machine Learning, Data Warehouse, Developer Platform, and Application Infrastructure in AWS and Azure.
This role is part of a team responsible for critical cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure, ensuring global reliability, scalability, security, cost optimization, and adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
We are looking for a Software Engineer/Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with a strong focus on production infrastructure health and operation to join our Core Infra team.
You will be responsible for the stability, uptime, incident response, and operational excellence of Eightfold’s multi-region production environments across AWS and Azure.
This role emphasizes system health, rather than feature development velocity.
You will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability of the core infrastructure that underpins all customer-facing solutions.
We’ve built strong foundations with automation, monitoring, and runbooks to ensure on-call is predictable and manageable.
This role offers engineers valuable hands-on production support experience as well as experience for improving overall infrastructure health through observability, health metrics, and reliability engineering practices.
What You Will Do
+ Design, build, and manage secure, scalable cloud environments on AWS and Azure, ensuring high availability, reliability, observability, security, and cost-efficiency.
+ Automate infrastructure deployment, configuration, monitoring, and disaster recovery using Shell scripting, Ansible, Terraform, and other automation tools to minimize manual intervention.
+ Implement and maintain containerized solutions using Docker, Kubernetes, and other cloud-native technologies to support large-scale, distributed systems serving millions of users and processing terabytes of data.
+ Monitor, maintain, and improve system performance, proactively addressing reliability, capacity, and cost issues.
+ Participate in daytime on-call rotations, triaging and resolving production incidents, following and improving runbooks, and ensuring smooth escalation processes.
+ Drive continuous improvement by contributing to post-incident reviews, root cause analysis, and implementing preventive solutions.
+ Collaborate with global SRE and development teams to deliver scalable, secure, and compliant infrastructure for global customers, including governments and large enterprises.
+ Apply cloud security best practices, including identity management, access control, and encryption, to meet strict compliance requirements.
+ Support change management and infrastructure upgrades, advocating for operational excellence and closing process gaps.
What You Bring
+ A proactive mindset, strong ownership, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work on time.
+ 3+ years of experience in CloudOps or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) with hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure.
+ Solid understanding of large-scale distributed systems, including real-time and async data processing, search, and DB systems.
+ Proficiency in managing cloud environments, specifically AWS and Azure.
+ Experience with automation tools, including Terraform, CloudFormation, Python, Shell Scripting, and Ansible.
+ Demonstrable skills in python scripting and triaging production issues using CloudWatch and other debugging tools.
+ Proven experience providing 24/7 on-call support and incident management for critical production infrastructure.
+ Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
+ Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Hands-on experience with Prometheus and Grafana is a plus.
+ Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or similar).
+ Experience in load testing using Locust is a plus.
+ Experience in supporting highly restricted production environments (e.g. federal government customers) is a plus.
+ Bachelors and/or Masters degree in Computer Science or equivalent Engineering discipline.

Pay Transparency
Please note this role is categorized as hybrid in Santa Clara, CA The base salary ranges below are provided for pay transparency.
Base pay is only one piece of our total compensation package, as this role is eligible for annual bonus and equity awards.
Compensation varies depending on a number of factors including qualifications, skills, competencies, experience and zones that are determined by location.
SF Bay Area, CA is in Zone A .
Zone A Base annual salary range: $154,000 to $181,000 + annual bonus up to `15% + preIPO equity (stock options).
