Sr. StaffMLEngineer–Context Engineering
Position Description
GEICO is seeking an experienced Sr. StaffMachine LearningEngineer to joinour AI org.
This person will play key roles for the development of Geico’s virtual assistant platform that elevates the productivity for 30K+ internal associates and the customer experience for millions of policyholders.You will be collaborating with a dynamic team of AIand software engineers todesign, develop and deploysystemsthat ensurescalability, reliability and usabilityof agenticworkflows across Geico.
Context engineers build centralized services that ensure seamless ingestion and consumption of internal knowledge and contextual data, giving AI agents comprehensive and up-to-update information to determineoptimal next steps.The ideal candidate should demonstratea proven track record ofbuildinghigh performance AI/ML platform & systems, with hands-on experience and deepenthusiasm for Generative AIand related ecosystems.
Responsibilities:
Own developmentof keyplatform components thatpowerend-to-end GenAI agentic workflows.
Examples include semanticknowledge graph, search,workflow orchestration, agent & workflow evaluation, etc.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, ML engineers, software engineers, product managers, designers to gather requirements, define project scope and prioritize feature backlogs for high impact business use cases.
Establishpragmatic visions & roadmapsthat balance business outcome, product release timelines and engineering excellence.
Contribute to the selection, evaluation, and implementation of software platforms, tools, and frameworks, balancing build vs.
buy, speed to market, maintainability, etc.
Lead a small team of engineers for feature & system implementation.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex software issues, ensuring optimalplatform performance and reliability.
Mentor and guide junior engineers via code reviews and design sessions, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team culture, elevating AI engineering best practices across the company.
Basic Qualifications
10+ years of experience designing and building AIMLplatform and systemsutilizingcomponents such asvectordb(e.g.Qdrant, Milvus, etc.), knowledge graph (e.g. neo4j), data warehouse (e.g. snowflake), streaming platform (e.g. Kafka), relational database (e.g.postgressql), workflow orchestration (e.g. Airflow, Temporal).
Proficientin Python, Java and similar general-purpose programming languages.
7+ years’ experiencemanaging end-to-end software development life cycle (e.g.CICD pipelines,Kubernetes-based deployments, testing, monitoring & alerting, production support etc.) for backend systems and APIs
5+ years’ experience in training, finetuning, real-time/batch inferencing and evaluation systems for AIML models and LLMs
Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Engineering, Statisticsor a related field
PreferredQualifications:
5+ years of experience building enterprise-levelsemantic knowledge-graph & related capabilities, such as ontology creation, knowledge ingestion, graph queries-based feature engineering, etc.
4+ years’ experienceutilizing and/or finetuningsmall LLMs to build conversational experiences and agentic workflows, esp.
natural-language-based query engines
Strong communicationand problem-solving skills to excel in dynamic, cross-functional decision-makingenvironments
Annual Salary
$130,000.00 - $300,000.00
The above annual salary range is a general guideline.
Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate.
Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
