# Staff Software Engineer, UI - Unpublished R&D Product## Los Angeles (USA)Riot GamesFull TimePosted a day agoAs a Staff Software Engineer, UI on an unpublished R&D product, you will establish the UI framework for one of Riot’s most exciting new games.

You will work closely with UX designers, artists, and other engineers to set the technical direction and emplace best practices and patterns for UI architecture and implementation.

In this role you will be hands-on in conceptualizing, planning, implementing, and leading all technical aspects of the game’s UI framework.

You will work with state-of-the-art technology, and explore new solutions to surprise and delight our players as we bring this new game to life.Riot engineers bring deep knowledge of specific technical areas but also value the opportunity to work in a variety of broader domains.

As a Staff Software Engineer, you’ll drive important features and provide other engineers with a clear illustration of extraordinary engineering.

We work with both new and current technology, creating innovative solutions to overcome high-volume obstacles and to deliver player value.

You will report to a Senior Engineering Manager supporting the Tech Foundations team within an R&D game project.Responsibilities:Work closely with UX, designers, engineering at all levels to design and implement the foundational technologies of the game’s UI frameworkSet the technical direction and best practices for UI architecture and implementation patternsImplement foundational UI systems on both PC and console platformsProfile and optimize performance and memory usage for UI on multiple platformsCollaborate on cross-disciplinary technical and architectural discussions for UI systems to ensure that UI meets both functional and aesthetic requirementsParticipate in the planning and execution of engineering work including requirements gathering, technical discovery, technical design, and work breakdown and estimationDrive exceptional quality by adhering to and evolving practices of engineering excellence, including code maintainability, quality, monitoring, code reviews, and documentationProvide mentorship to engineers, technical designers, and technical artistsRequired Qualifications8+ years experience in UI engineering, implementation, or related fields3+ years experience developing UI in Unreal Engine (Blueprint, UMG, and/or Slate)Experience in framework level UI engineeringExperience in performance profiling and optimization for UIExperience collaborating with teammates across multiple disciplinesB.S. in computer science or equivalent experienceStrong OO C/C++/C# programming experience and data driven design principlesProven ability to navigate ambiguity and influence cross-functional stakeholdersStrong communication skills across technical and non-technical audiencesDesired QualificationsExperience building UI for multiplayer gamesExperience developing UI for both PC and console platformsKnowledge of UI submission requirements for consoleKnowledge of UI accessibility featuresExperience with input handling (Common UI, Enhanced Input)Experience in graphics/renderingExperience mentoring technical ICs and contributing to engineering cultureExperience working on distributed teamsFor this role, you'll find success through craft expertise and a collaborative spirit that prioritizes the delight of players.
