We use innovative technology, detailed design, and proven science and data to personalize and improve each night for everybodychanging the way people sleep forever and for the better.

With our flagship product, the Pod, we are addressing critical sleep issues such as temperature regulation, bed elevation, snoring reduction, and the wake-up experience.

Hundreds of thousands of customers around the world sleep better every night thanks to the Pod.

But we're just getting started.

We're committed to developing more groundbreaking products to tackle additional sleep problems, changing the role sleep plays in our lives forever.

We're excited about the journey ahead and the impact we can make as we continue to innovate and expand our offerings to fulfill our mission.

We are backed by leading Silicon Valley investors like YC Combinator, Founders Fund, Valor, and Khosla Ventures, and we have been recognized as one of Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies in 2018, 2022, and 2023.

The Pod was also recognized two years in a row by TIME's 'Best Inventions of the Year.' We currently sell the Pod in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe, and Australia.

The Role

We're looking for a product designer who thinks beyond aesthetics.

Someone who is as passionate about crafting seamless user experiences as they are about beautiful interfaces.

You care deeply about building, shipping, and iterating on real products, not just making polished mockups that never see the light of day.

As a product designer on our web team, you'll play a critical role in shaping the Eight Sleep website, driving the design of engaging, intuitive, and seamless experiences that help users discover and purchase a Pod.

You'll collaborate closely with the Growth, Brand & Marketing, Product, and Engineering teams to craft high-quality, data-driven designs that balance aesthetics with usability.

We don't believe in rigid design silos.

At many companies, product design is split into UX, UI, and other sub-disciplines.

Here, it's all in one.

You should be an exceptional generalist who can move fluidly between information architecture, visual design, and interaction patterns, with an eye for both pixel perfection and real-world usability.

As a key member of our small but growing design team, you'll have significant ownership over the website experience, ensuring that users are equipped with the resources they need to make informed purchase decisions.

How You'll Contribute
  • Design: You'll sit at the intersection of Growth and Product, leading the creation of our e-commerce experience to drive brand positioning and revenue growth.

Your responsibilities will encompass the full spectrum of product design, from information architecture and low-fidelity wireframes to high-fidelity mockups, and everything in-between.

  • Validate: You'll support our customer discovery team in conducting usability studies and user interviews to inform design work.

You'll use data to inform the success or failure of the design.

  • Iterate: You'll combine qualitative and quantitative customer insights to make design decisions that improve our web experience for our members, and move the needle on conversion and retention.

We are highly data-informed, so iterating in response to metrics is essential.

  • Communicate: You'll present your work, from works in progress to polished prototypes, to stakeholders and executives.

You'll also take ownership of design documentation, ensuring your files are prepped for engineering.

Some other details about the role:

  • You'll work as part of an interdisciplinary team to deliver successful experiences that drive business growth and user value.

  • You'll help build, document, and organize the UI components of our web design system, in collaboration with our web engineering team.

  • You'll align with stakeholders in our Marketing, Brand, Growth, and Product teams and clearly present design updates to C-suite leadership for feedback and approval.

  • You'll serve as the subject matter expert responsible for web design patterns and interactions - including researching and staying up-to-date on emerging web and e-commerce design trends and best practices.

  • You'll collaborate closely with the Engineering and Marketing teams to ship a world class web experience.

What You Need To Succeed
  • 4+ years experience in web/e-commerce UX and UI

  • A portfolio showcasing high quality, thoughtful UI and UX work, with key web-based projects

  • You've shipped your designs to public users and have data that proves either success or failure

  • You are able to consider the technical implications of design decisions and have the ability to find the right balance between new user value and technical effort

  • You are obsessed with simplicity, have a high-quality bar for the aesthetics in your design

  • You thrive as an independent thinker and can manage the design process from end to end even in open-ended, ambiguous environments

  • You have a passion for user research, from developing to executing user interviews and testing

  • You are able and flexible to iterate fast and often

  • You are confident writing clear agendas and presenting design evolutions to C-Suite leadership

  • You are excited about the opportunity to build a fast-growing brand into an iconic company

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in a related design field or equivalent experience

Bonus points for:

  • Understanding code or the mechanics behind how components and websites are built

  • Motion and micro-animation design skills

  • Having built iconic, high-growth e-commerce sites and successful products at small and mid-size tech startups (with the data or reviews to prove it)
