Join the State Attorney’s Office for the First Judicial Circuit of Florida as a Prosecutor in our Pensacola, Florida office!  Our office is responsible for the prosecution of all crimes committed in Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, and Walton counties.

 We are seeking Assistant State Attorneys that have good judgment and a passion to keep our community safe.

   

We hire Florida Bar members in good standing who have demonstrated an interest in litigation and/or criminal law through course work and internships.

We also recruit attorneys with prosecutorial experience for lateral hires.

 

Our prosecutors manage a large caseload, are in court frequently, and prosecute numerous trials.

Training and mentoring are provided by senior attorneys.

This is truly a unique opportunity to learn to become a first-class trial attorney.

The minimum entry level annual salary for attorneys is $75,000.00, commensurate with experience, which coupled with our generous benefits package is comparable to $121,818.96 annually.

Benefits include State of Florida employee retirement and insurance options, paid holidays and paid leave.

 

Applicants must have a strong interest in courtroom litigation, with excellent communication and critical thinking skills.

Attorney responsibilities include but are not limited to: preparation of criminal cases for prosecution requiring legal research, depositions, and interviewing witnesses/victims and other parties to ascertain facts.

Trial work includes preparation and summation of detailed case work for presentation of cases in jury and non-jury trials, and the examining and cross-examining of witnesses, defendants, and victims.

 

Employment will require professional interaction with the public, law enforcement staff and office staff.

Applicant must be able to work independently and as a team member.

 

Applicants considered for employment will be required to pass a background check including fingerprinting, and are required to have proof of identity, and proof of US citizenship OR legal right to work in the United States.

 

Employer is a member of the Florida Prosecuting Attorneys Association and FPAA Pay Plan.
