The Storage & Virtualization Engineer is a key member of the Security Engineering and Operations (SE&O) team, responsible for the design, management, and maintenance of critical infrastructure and security tools.
This role requires a subject matter expert in VMware vSphere and storage area network (SAN) technologies, with a strong focus on security, performance optimization, and life cycle management.
The engineer will support multiple data centers and provide expertise for security solutions across various federal and FISMA-compliant environments.
They will also be responsible for documenting all infrastructure changes and improvements in accordance with government best practices.
Act as a system owner for multiple security products and solutions, supporting SOC operations and FISMA sites.
Serve as a subject matter expert for a multi-site VMware vSphere datacenter.
Provide design recommendations, and perform upgrading and life cycle management for ESXi, vCenter, and vRealize Ops (Aria).
Monitor performance, implement optimizations, and resolve all issues related to virtualized environments.
Proactively monitor for vulnerabilities and harden systems promptly.
Administer and manage multi-site PureStorage SAN and Brocade Fiber Channel fabric.
Be responsible for DELL infrastructure, including DELL Chassis and blade servers, and configure central administration tools like DELL OpenManage Server.
Assist with complex troubleshooting issues involving Microsoft and Linux systems.
Provide Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP administration.
Act as the primary administrator for endpoint security products, including Trellix Endpoint Security and Management (ePO, EDR, DLP).
Document all infrastructure optimizations and improvements following government best practices and NIST guidelines.
Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years of experience with Storage Area Networks (SANs), like PureStorage and Brocade Fiber Channel fabric.
Expertise in VMware vSphere, including ESXi, vCenter, and vRealize Ops (Aria).
Experience with DELL infrastructure, including chassis and blade servers.
Proficiency in Linux and Microsoft server administration, including Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP.
Experience with endpoint security solutions (e.g., Trellix Endpoint Security).
Knowledge of government best practices and procedures, including NIST guidelines.
Experience supporting infrastructure for a Cyber Security Center or a similar security-focused organization.
Knowledge of FISMA sites and their compliance requirements.
Relevant certifications in virtualization (e.g., VCP), storage, or cybersecurity.
Experience with lifecycle management of enterprise-level IT infrastructure.
Familiarity with SOC operations and security tool integration.
Experience in a federal or defense sector environment.
