Urgent! Structural Engineering Intern Job Opening In Boise – Now Hiring Jacobs
This role is for a fulltime summer Structural Engineering Intern located in the Boise, ID office.
As a summer intern you will assist other structural engineers with various project tasks that may include engineering design, contract document production and construction phase engineering support.
You will be mentored by a group of professional engineers and technical experts in designing facilities such as water and wastewater pump stations, treatment facilities for water and wastewater plants, and conveyance systems like vaults, channels, and culverts.
Your typical job responsibilities will include:
* Conducting structural analysis
* Designing structural elements like beams and columns using concrete and steel materials
* Engaging in technical writing
* Marking up and detailing construction drawings
* Producing specifications
* Performing field work tasks and site inspections
* Assisting with services during construction which includes submittal review and RFI responses
As part of our team, our goal is to provide a training opportunity to engage in the roles and responsibilities of an infrastructure focused structural engineer.
You will also collaborate with our CAD designers to communicate how structural requirements get translated into construction drawings.
This role will help you build a solid foundation in the fundamentals of Structural Engineering and show how structural design integrates with and impacts other disciplines.
* Pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited program
* Completion of a statics or structural analysis course
* Good communication (both written and verbal), problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
* Authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship, now or in the future
Ideally, you’ll also have:
* 3.0 GPA
* Must be at least a Junior
* Self-driven time management and organizational skills
* Experience with a PDF editor such as Bluebeam
* Currently taking or have taken courses in steel and/or concrete design
* Familiarity with US Building and material codes including IBC, ASCE7, AISC, and ACI
