*Requisition:*202500230ST *Title:*Student Employee-Engineering Technology-Research Assistant *Employee Class:*Student Employee *College Work Study Position:*No *Department:*Dept of Engineering Technology *Division:*Division of Academic Affairs *Hours per week:*6-8 hours per week during FALL 2025 thru Summer 2026 *Hiring Rate:*$13.00 per hour *Preferred Student Classification:*Three undergraduate *Nature & Purpose of Position:*This student employee position supports a long-term, grant-supported project titled *“Establishment of a UAV Design and Development Laboratory and Student Team.”* The goal of this initiative is to establish an Aerospace Student Club and train students in the design, prototyping, and testing of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) for entry into high-profile national and international competitions such as SAE Aero Design and AIAA Design/Build/Fly.

Selected student assistants will take part in multidisciplinary engineering tasks including UAV frame design, electronics setup, flight systems programming, and autonomous navigation research.

This position provides hands-on experience in drone development and real-world engineering challenges, along with opportunities for research, technical documentation, multidisciplinary collaboration, and publication in conferences and journals.

* Basic proficiency in programming and hardware integration (servos, receiver, transmitter, ESC, batteries, motors, propellers etc.) for remote controlled drones and airplanes is strongly recommended.

* Knowledge of CAD tools, aerodynamics, and structural design is a plus.

* Candidates should demonstrate strong teamwork and communication skills.

* Preference will be given to students who have at least two academic years remaining before graduation.
