The mission of the Quantum-Enabled Computation Group is to explore, prototype, and demonstrate transformative computational advantage by leveraging quantized and entangled signals.
Our work falls into three key thrusts: quantum computing with superconducting qubits, classical computing with single flux quanta in superconducting circuits, and quantum information science and algorithms.
We also enable the broader US research enterprise via superconducting device foundries and open-source software development, and support the US Government as strategic Test and Evaluation partners and subject matter experts.
Our interdisciplinary Group includes scientific experts in computer science, quantum information, device theory, materials science, fabrication and integration engineering, electrical and microwave engineering, and quantum physics.
Job Description
Assistant Staff Superconducting Qubit Engineer
The Quantum-Enabled Computation Group (Group 89) is seeking a full-time assistant staff to work within our superconducting qubit team.
The staff member will be responsible for running cryogenic and room-temperature hardware, developing test and control software infrastructure and automation, designing and simulating superconducting quantum circuits, analyzing data sets, and troubleshooting hardware and software.
Experiments are performed in commercial dilution refrigerators operating at millikelvin temperatures.
Experimental controls are generated at room temperature using a combination of standard RF (network analyzers, signal analyzers, signal generators) and baseband (DC sources, arbitrary waveform generators) equipment along with some more quantum-specific hardware.
Experiments are executed and analyzed using homegrown software packages.
We are hiring for several roles requiring this general skill set, including some that require higher-level security clearances.

Requirements
+ Bachelors degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Quantum Science/Engineering, or related field.
+ Demonstrated scientific programming skills (Python, MATLAB, Mathematica, etc.).
+ Willingness to be primarily on-site and working in a laboratory.
+ Interest in deep root cause analysis of unexpected characteristics of data.
+ Ability to work both independently and collaboratively on difficult, open-ended problems on interdisciplinary technical teams.
Desired:
+ Experience in experimental research, especially exposure to quantum mechanics and/or condensed matter.
+ Experience in control, integration and validation of RF, microwave, or other high-speed equipment.
+ Experience operating cryogenic systems and/or debugging instrumentation, mechanical, and cryogenic components.
+ Experience testing DC, digital and/or high-speed analog devices.
