Job description

The South Texas Project Electric Generating Station is one of the newest and largest nuclear power facilities in the nation.

SUMMARY
Directs and provides coordination, training, and scheduling of assigned personnel.

Ensure certifications, plant equipment and systems are maintained in accordance with technical specifications, plant procedures, policies and NRC & INPO guidelines.

Coordinates activities between craft disciplines, support groups, operations, outage, and training.



EDUCATION
• High School/GED or equivalent (Required)

EXPERIENCE
• 5 Years power plant experience, of which at least one year shall be nuclear plant experience.

(Required)
• The individual shall have knowledge in power plant fundamentals and sufficient technical expertise to provide technical direction to craft personnel.

(Required)
• Pumps & Valve experience.

(Preferred)

LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS
• There is no Licensure or Certifications required

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
MAINTENANCE TECHNICAL SUPERVISOR DUTIES:
Provides technical and administrative oversight of personnel to ensure assigned systems, backlog, modifications/enhancements, and reliability are maintained in accordance with station expectations and regulatory requirements.
• Develops and schedules on-line work activities to ensure coordination between plant equipment, parts, and skilled personnel availability.
• Develops and schedules outage work activities to ensure coordination with Operations, support groups and assigned personnel to allow activities to be completed in a SAFE, timely and efficient manner.
• Develops and enforces policies, regulations, procedures, contracts, and expectations to ensure plant safety, security and reliability are maintained.
• Provides technical and administrative support/oversight of assessments, outage preparations, event reviews and business plan implementation.
• Develops and implements action plans for Limited Conditions of Operation, high priority scheduled and emergent plant activities.

Performs work order planning and detailed work instructions to support the needs of the plant.
• Participates on selected committees and work teams and facilitates and implements craft programs and meetings to ensure continuous improvement.


FISCAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
Maintains fiscal records and procedures of the department to ensure the effective and efficient operations of the department.
• Understands and manages to financial and budget targets.

Incorporates financial analysis into strategic decisions.
• Proactively monitors and interprets ongoing financial performance and responds strategically.
• Incorporates financial analysis into strategic decisions and takes accountability for financial decisions within area.

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT MAINTENANCE SUPV:
• Ensures development plans are in place and followed.
• Perform personnel activities for direct reports (promotions, salary changes, counseling, performance appraisals).
• Prepares and delivers oral and written communications relating to work group and station activities (e.g., reports, presentations, department meetings).
• Monitors work group reports and recommendations to assure evaluations, assessments and support are effectively developed and communicated.
• Develops and maintains appropriate technical expertise within the work group to ensure adequate talent to perform meaningful assessments and program oversight.
• Represents department/company on internal work teams and committees and with external entities.
• Maintains composure in high stress or adverse situations.
• Understands and implements company policies.
• Provides employees with tools and training necessary for them to perform their assignments.

TRAINING DUTIES - MAINT SUPV:
Develops, monitors, evaluates, and conducts formal classroom and on the job training to ensure employee skills and abilities support plant needs.
• Enforces qualification standards in accordance with technical specifications, plant procedures, policies and NRC & INPO guidelines.
• Observes and evaluates training, reinforces training expectations, provides feedback, and addresses performance shortfalls as needed.


OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
• Accept ERO position as needed.
• Accept outage position as needed and be able to meet the response requirements.
• Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access.
• Successfully complete General Employee Training (GET) as required for position.

ENVIRONMENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Environmental and physical requirements are subject to crouching, stooping, bending, twisting and/or lifting up to 30 lbs; ascending/descending stairs; sitting for extended periods of time; and spending considerable time in front of computer monitors.

WORKING CONDITIONS
• Overtime and alternate work schedules as needed.
• Subject to callouts twenty-four hours per day seven days per week.
• Travel may be required.
• May be required to carry a phone.

WORK LOCATION
• Site – Due to the nature of the work, this position requires work to be performed in the field and/or at the work site.
