Job Description
L3Harris Communication Systems is seeking a System of Systems Engineer to play a critical role in advancing our International C2 and Mission Systems solutions.

In this role, you’ll help shape and integrate complex communication architectures that connect land, air, sea, and unmanned platforms, ensuring mission readiness and interoperability for our customers.

You’ll collaborate across engineering, business development, and customer teams to define, design, and deliver cutting-edge tactical communication systems that balance performance, cost, and schedule.



As a System of Systems Engineer, you’ll work at the intersection of advanced technology and real-world defense missions.

Your contributions will ensure interoperability across platforms and directly support those who rely on secure, resilient communications in the most demanding environments.



Essential Functions:

+ Partner with customers to understand mission requirements and develop systems solutions leveraging L3Harris radios and modern MANET waveforms.



+ Design and refine system architectures for communications modernization and C4ISR applications.



+ Support integration efforts, combining L3Harris products with third-party systems (intercoms, software, electronics, and power systems).



+ Assist with platform integration, ensuring seamless operation across vehicles, shelters, fixed sites, ships, aircraft, and UAVs.

+ Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Program Management, and Engineering to translate requirements into practical, mission-ready solutions.



+ Prepare and deliver technical material, including white papers, presentations, and system solution briefings to customers.



+ Represent L3Harris at NATO and customer-led technical conferences, sharing expertise and insights.



+ Influence future products, working with Product and Engineering teams to shape roadmaps based on customer needs.



+ Travel internationally (approx.

25%) to support customer engagements, demonstrations, conferences, and integration activities.



+ U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.



Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience.

Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.

In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.



+ Experience in systems-level design and integration with communications, C4ISR, or mission-critical technologies.



Preferred Skills

+ Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals and tactical network architectures.



+ Understanding of RF propagation, co-site, and colocation challenges.



+ Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and requirements management.



+ Experience with system modeling, technical proposals, and documentation.



+ Exposure to Multi-Level Security (MLS), cross-domain solutions, or Federated Mission Networking (FMN).



+ Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.



+ Comfortable working in cross-functional teams and engaging directly with customers.



+ Prior experience supporting platform integration (land, sea, air, or unmanned systems).



In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New York state is $90,500 - $168,500 This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
