Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine.

The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content.

The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

NBCUniversal has an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to become a Systems Engineer with a specific focus on System and Application Discovery solutions for NBCU Operations and Technology (O&T).



O&T supports enterprise Technology, Broadcast and Production systems across the NBCU portfolio globally.

The Systems Engineer will apply DevOps and SRE principles to deploy and create new applications, integrations and services that serve to reduce manual effort and provide process improvements to existing and newly developed workflows across Enterprise IT, Broadcast, Media Fulfillment and Post Production.

Responsibilities:

+ Manage System and Application Discovery tools tied to our Automation and SRE team.

+ Develop, support and maintain Cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP)-based and on-premise automations and technologies.

+ Help gather data related to audit request via discovery or automation tools.

+ Participate in architecture discussions to identify efficient solutions for enterprise IT as well as broadcast and media workflows.

+ Work with various business units and vendors to gather requirements and implement new software and hardware solutions.

+ Partner with other engineering teams (Active Directory, Compute, Storage, Application Support, etc) to deliver best of breed solutions.

+ Identify areas where manual steps could be eliminated, or inefficient processes could be improved through automation.

+ Create high level architecture diagrams using Visio/Lucidchart/AutoCAD or other similar tools.

+ Create documentation for developers and operation support teams

+ Create and maintain Ansible Playbooks and Roles for both Unix, Windows, and Mac environments.

+ Stay up to date on new development and platform technologies and make recommendations for improved development approaches.

+ Participate in on-call rotations and occasional after-hours maintenance.


+ Experience supporting and maintaining engineering systems.

+ Experience with AWS tools including Lambda, IAM, S3, and CloudFormation/Serverless

+ Experience working with a variety of languages and technologies on both the front- and backend, including but not limited to git, Python, Ansible, Terraform, JavaScript (React and node), CSS3 and HTML5, (or similar configuration management tools).

+ Demonstrated ability to think critically about problems, decipher user preferences versus hard requirements, and effectively use online and onsite resources to find an appropriate solution with little intervention.

+ Passionate about writing clear, maintainable code that will be used and modified by others, and able to use and modify other developers’ work rather than recreate it

+ Must be willing to travel to NBCUniversal locations as needed.

DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS:

+ Experience working with discovery tools such as Eracent, Device 42, UCMDB, ADDM, etc.

+ Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, comfortable communicating with technical and non-technical colleagues and executives

+ Experience working in a SRE or DevOps team preferred.

+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field strongly preferred.

+ Able to communicate effectively in a diverse team of varying skillsets and proficiencies, including the ability to relate complex information and business process needs to both technical and non-technical audiences.

+ Experience working with and maintaining databases (Both SQL and NoSQL)

+ Experience with Kubernetes, Docker/Podman and container orchestration tools

+ Experience with Ansible

+ Experience with Powershell and Power Automate is a plus

Salary range: $90,000 - $120,000.
