SALARY RANGE $105,000 - $165,000/year.
DUTIES As a successful candidate for the Systems Engineer I role, you will analyze user requirements, concept of operations documents, and high-level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications.
You will analyze system requirements and lead design and development activities.
Guide users in formulating requirements, advise on alternative approaches, and conduct feasibility studies.
Provide technical leadership for the integration of requirements, design, and technology.
Incorporate new plans, designs, and systems into ongoing operations.
Develop technical documentation, system architecture, and system design documentation.
Guide system development and implementation planning through the assessment or preparation of system engineering management plans and system integration and test plans.
Interact with the Government regarding systems engineering technical considerations and associated problems, issues, or conflicts.
Assume ultimate responsibility for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the systems engineering area of responsibility.
Communicate effectively with other program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives.
SKILLS
• Manage and derive system requirements to align with DoDAF, SOA, etc.
• Contribute to system engineering docs (SEPs, ICDs, specs)
• Support the development and allocation of system and functional requirements
• Resolve cross-disciplinary action items from CCBs and reviews
• Collaborate on the design of new capabilities in Integrated Product Teams
• Allocate real-time and error budgets to components
• Create alternative concepts, architectures, and design solutions
• Define verification methods, processes, and evaluation criteria
• Develop system designs that meet requirements and analyses
• Provide input on WBS, work packages, and IMPs
• Help define and update system interfaces throughout the lifecycle
• Translate stakeholder needs into derived and inferred functions
• Derive lower-level, verifiable requirements from higher-level ones
• Support system/component definition (requirements, interfaces, tests)
• Develop Information Assurance requirements (Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability, authentication, access control, etc.)
QUALIFICATIONS Seven (7) years of experience as a SE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
A bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
Five (5) years of additional SE experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
Knowledge and/or experience with:
• Circuit Switched and Mobile Telephony signaling types, networks and systems, including audio encoding/decoding (5 years)
• Specific communications protocols (e.g., GSM, CDMA, 5G, HTS, etc.) and associated community tools
• Application Development for IPv4 and IPv6 packet-switched networks (i.e., L2, L3), protocols (i.e., VOIP), and technologies (VPNs, encapsulation)
• Digital forensics tools such as Wireshark
• Deep knowledge of the OSI network stack and associated protocols across layers 2-7.
• All protocol stacks for data transfer, to include but not limited to Routing protocols, Encapsulation, Tunneling, and encryption, legacy protocols (i.e., SONET)
