Job Description Summary
A research technician position is available in the Chung lab in the department of Neuroscience at the University of Pennsylvania.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to work in collaboration with graduate students and postdoctoral associates studying neural circuits and molecular mechanisms controlling sleep.
A successful candidate would be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to work independently following supervision and guidance on lab technique and safety.
Previous experience in basic lab techniques is advantageous, but training will be provided for all duties.
This position is an excellent opportunity to develop technical tools and foster critical thinking and analytical skills valuable for a career in research.
Job Description
The lab technician will perform behavioral testing, mouse surgeries and data analysis.
Furthermore, the technician will be responsible for general lab maintenance including the management of mouse colony, orders and projects for scientific publications with close supervision.
Daily management of laboratory tools to ensure regulatory compliance.
He/she will closely collaborate with lab members and the Principal Investigator on projects.
Position is contingent on continued grant funding.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Neurobiology, or a related field with 0-1 year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Prior laboratory experience, particularly in rodent behavior, strongly preferred.
