Posting Description

TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, MICROSCOPY, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research-Microscopy Core Facility (KIMCF), to provide support for a microscopy satellite facility; be trained and supervised by the KIMCF Director to staff the biology satellite core facility independently; train and support users in microscope operation and techniques, including data quality and management; assess equipment needs, performing routine quality controls, and scheduling maintenance and repairs of equipment; report on progress and issues at internal and external meetings; ensure compliance with safety standards/procedures; and perform other related duties as required, including work performed at lower levels, when necessary.

The KIMCF serves approximately 90 groups engaged in cancer and other research across campus.




Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in biological, physical sciences, engineering, or a related field; a minimum of two years of experience in a research laboratory environment (which may include experience gained as an undergraduate); self-motivation and demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team; attention to detail, excellent organizational, analytical, customer service, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills; and an understanding of laboratory safety.

PREFERRED: Experience with microscopes and imaging software.
