This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Technical Director for our District of Columbia Bridge Inspection Group.

This is a hybrid position, based out of our Washington D.C. and/or adjacent MD/VA offices.

You will assist the Mid-Atlantic District's bridge inspection TEC Lead with business development and securing bridge inspection and repair projects for WMATA, DDOT, and other transportation agencies.

You will leverage your education, licensure, and relevant experience to independently evaluate the condition, function, and load capacity of structures and components, providing recommendations for repair, rehabilitation, or replacement.

Your Impact
  • Plan, schedule, and perform bridge inspections in accordance with NBIS and AASHTO standards.

  • Coordinate with client staff and communicate critical findings.

  • Lead field teams and enforce safety protocols.

  • Prepare and review inspection reports ensuring compliance with standards.

  • Support proposal and report preparations.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (ABET accredited)
  • 10+ years of bridge inspection experience with WMATA, DDOT, etc.

  • Experience managing bridge inspection projects in DC, MD, VA.

  • Completion of NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges course.

  • Strong communication, leadership, and safety record.

  • Valid driver's license and ability to perform field work.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Additional NHI training (e.g., Fracture Critical Inspection, NSTM, LRFR, Scour)
  • Experience with railroad, tunnels, ancillary structures, NDT, UAS, rope access.

Benefits & Compensation

Competitive salary range: $149,200 - $300,410, based on experience and location.
