Job Title: Technical Documentation Specialist Intern

Location: Washington, DC (Remote/Hybrid/In-Person)

Job Type: Part-Time (20 hours per week)

Duration: 6 months

Compensation: $35/hour

About the Role

Persistent Technology Inc.

is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Technical Documentation Specialist Intern to support the creation, organization, and maintenance of technical documentation related to business processes, system workflows, and compliance standards.

This position is ideal for students or recent graduates in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or Computer Information Systems who have an interest in business process engineering and technical writing.

Key Responsibilities

· Develop, update, and maintain technical documentation, including user manuals, process workflows, system specifications, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

· Collaborate with engineers, developers, and business analysts to translate technical concepts into clear and concise documentation.

· Assist in documenting business process models, system architectures, and data flow diagrams.

· Ensure documentation complies with industry standards such as ISO 9000, ISO 9001, ISO 27001, and CMMI.

· Review and edit existing documents for accuracy, consistency, and clarity.

· Work with stakeholders to identify documentation gaps and implement improvements.

· Maintain version control and organization of technical documentation repositories.

Qualifications & Skills

Preferred Educational Background:

· Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or a related field.

Preferred Experience:

· Experience in business process engineering, technical writing, or documentation of technical manuals.

· Familiarity with industry standards such as ISO 9000, ISO 9001, ISO 27001, and CMMI is a plus.

· Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and process improvement methodologies.

Technical Skills:

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio), Google Docs, or other documentation tools.

· Experience with business process modeling tools (e.g., BPMN, Lucidchart, Visio) is a plus.

· Basic understanding of content management systems (CMS) or document version control.

Soft Skills:

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Attention to detail and ability to work independently.

· Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
