Job Overview

The Appliances business is seeking to fulfill an engineering technician position to support engineering initiatives within the Appliance BU.

The engineering technician will be primarily responsible supporting sample creation at the Middletown On-Wire lab.

This position will require close coordination with our TE Engineering, Sales, and Product management teams to support new product development and expand sales.

Other activities include and supporting the local engineering team with sample preparation, testing and analysis, fixture design, and shipping.

Responsibilities:

• Maintains On-Wire continuous operation and allows expansion of On-wire samples
• Maintains safety records in compliance with LabSafe audits.


• Complete RTSs submitted by engineering or sales teams 
• Generate customer viewable reports use to drive sales of TE’s products
• Build representative and functional samples from customer provided prints
• Perform VRs to validate proper terminal, wire and tooling combinations
• Troubleshoot and solve tooling problems and field issues
• Perform preventative maintenance of all tooling in the On-Wire Room
• Build and ship samples for agency approvals
• Evaluate crimped samples from teardowns and generate summary reports 
• Provide competitive analysis used to help drive new sales
• Train manufacturers and harness makers on how to properly apply our products
• Support new product crimp development and crimp height selections
• Support quality engineers with customer returns and complaints
• Ensure that hazardous materials are labeled with MSDS tags
• Host shop tours to highlight capabilities and offerings
• Maintain stock of samples, wire, and contacts in the On-Wire Room
• Monitor tooling condition and order replacements when needed
• Long term goal is to maintain continuous operation of the On Wire Room
• Purchase samples for engineering from sample room and manage P-card balance

What your background should look like:

• Prefer 2 year or 4-year degree in related discipline, but not required
• 1-5 years’ experience supporting engineering or related functions 
• Work successfully with limited supervision
• Able to read and interpret tooling and product drawings
• A general aptitude for mechanical/electrical design
• Must be hands on and capable of lifting up to 40 lbs
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
• Communicate effectively with engineering by means of e-mail and verbal exchanges
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Products, specifically Excel
• Experience in the electronics industry a plus
• Proficient with measuring tools and gauges - crimp height micrometers, dial calipers, comparator, go no-go gages-etc…

COMPENSATION
• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $60,320 – 75,400 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith.

TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
• Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
