Description of Job

Primary responsibility is to support the State Invasive Species Program through public outreach to non-motorized water recreation groups.

Work will include trailering a mobile self-serve cleaning system throughout the Western Slope in order to educate outfitters, anglers, hunters, and non-motorized watercraft users about aquatic invasive species and how to properly clean, drain, and dry their equipment.
Outreach will include providing surveys, attending user group events and expositions, and educating recreational outfitters.

The position will report to the James M.

Robb Corn Lake State Park for assignment.

Boat inspection training will be provided.

When outreach is not needed, the position will support the Program Manager and Invasive Species Specialists by performing a variety of tasks including: watercraft inspection and decontamination, quality control assessment, inventory management, reviewing and editing technical reports, distribution of supplies to field locations, and data entry.


This position requires regular overnight travel and distance driving.

Early morning, evening & weekend work
required.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
1.

Good driving record and ability to travel extensively with overnight stays is mandatory.
2.

Ability to drive long hours and remain alert.
3.

Knowledge of boat and trailer anatomy, ability to trailer boats/decontamination (power washer) units on highways and steep mountain roads.
4.

Must be willing to be flexible with the weekday and weekend work schedule, as field work may be dictated by weather.
5.

Experience with Microsoft Word applications required – Word, Excel, Access
6.

Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) are required.
7.

Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.

PREFERRED EDUCATION:Bachelors Degree in Biological Sciences or higher education.
